Mr2 sw20 with the turbo engine is best mr2. The previous generation wasn't as refined and the generation following it somehow managed to be inferior to the mx5 in every way.

It is a great looking car, but it isn't really a good performer. I wouldn't go so far as to say it is hated, but it certainly isn't a crowd favorite.

There's much better cars for the money than an MR2. The AW11 is the one exception just because of how aesthetic it is.

Because too many wannabe racers bought it for the god tier MR layout and found out the hard way why they don't design regular passenger cars to oversteer off throttle.

Turns out you actually need a modicum of skill to drive the god tier layout.

as a former AW11 owner, they can be very good, particularly 93-95 2nd gens with corrected suspension geometry, but all early Toyota MR2s have suspension geometry issues, thing with 1st gen is even if its graining and noisy to drive to work (dont do that) its exactly what one wants and seeks when buying a lotus Elise, Steering Feeeeel, Engine sound, ability to train the driver. 3rd gen fixed most the issue and if not retaining all the purity retained the lightnessssss.

With MR2s refer to Steve Heolshcer/XHEAD for suspension tips, if you do that you won't die while going around a corner and will embarras miatas while having even more fun, SW20 included.
