No, you can't buy inventory with in-game money. The only inventory sources are in-game through progression and the founder's packs.
The only thing paywalled off are the exclusive character skins in the orange pack.

No, not really. If you level your gear and characters well, (and play well obviously) you can reasonably get into Plankerton as early as 12.

Seriously curious about this and would like you to elaborate more because it doesn't look like the gunplay is anything more than rigid hitscan third person shooting that you can get in a ton of other games. The movement also looks very generic, just moving around and you get a jump.

The answer is you really can't since 90% of it isn't even implemented in Canny Valley. The only thing that is implemented is the desert tile for the Storm Shield. The quests aren't in, nor the map or any Mission tiles. Multiple people kept telling them they should wait back in Alpha, but they decided it was time to push to Beta.

Honestly I don't plan on playing Canny Valley or Twine Peaks until they're finished, so I'm taking it slow in Plankerton.

To be fair, it can be a bit confusing since there's so much to take in. There's a lot of shit on there and a lot to read. Few people will bother looking at the smaller nodes once they understand "this is each of the four BASE stats" and pay more attention to the big shiny ones, so missing stuff like "gotta have X Quest done" or "must have 30 nodes purchased in tree" are easy to miss.
