It's one of those theories that aren't really contradicted by anything, but also aren't really hinted at in the game. It's like that popular theory that Henryk was Viola's dad and Gascoigne's father in law. Sure, that probably could be. There was only two of us and it was a little difficult but it actually went pretty well. It took a bit more strategy than usual, and some of the bosses took some gitting gud (layer one hblb PLS) but it was really fun and a unique way to play.

Certain tier 3 rune glyphs require Lower Loran and I believe you actually need some unlisted Bastards from one of the side areas.

there are 2 bastards on l2 which saves you buying them, and a few of the runes in the op are lower loran. not to mention that you wouldnt be able to join spelunks in loran, which imo are the best

You need the root, which you get from Darkbeast. I believe buying the sinister root on Layer 3 has the same effect.
