Who /fuck winter/ here?

If it's a manual you can push start it. Push it up to about 10 mph, turn the key on and dump the clutch in first gear. Batteries don't like cold, get an insulator sleeve for the new one.

Not even 10MPH depending on the car, but I've done this before.

I also have a bench supply I can use for charging and an extra battery in my utility room. That was nice one time when I didn't know I hadn't closed my trunk all the way and it ran the battery out.

Another thing to do is leave the car in the ON position for 10s or maybe even a minute so to let the fuel pressure builds and you have a bit of current running through the battery to help heat it up slightly before going for the start. Part of the reason it really heaves on that first attempt at turning the engine through a compression stroke is that by the second or third compression stroke the extra internal resistance from being cold has helped heat it up internally trying to source all that cranking current.

It's an autotragic sadly.

I've got the battery hooked up to an external charger for the time being.

This is what I’ve been doing because unfortunately I don’t have room to push start my car (it’s manual).

take the battery out and shake it.

this

Holy shit don't. You'll make mustard gas

lol

You don't need to take it out. You can just jump up and down on the hood.

Only if you're wearing cleats though.

this. it will put speed holes in your car, making it faster

It helps with ram-air induction if you have vacuum leaks

Did you try maintaining your battery, or having one that isn't fucked?

Dont have a shit battery in the first place..

Have a battery rated well above what your vehicle requires....

Own a battery charger High Amp starting functionality

Drive a Truck with dual Giant batteries for 1600+ amps of 0 degree F cold cranking power

Own more than 1 vehicle so you have more than 1 option ?

>Dont have a shit battery in the first place..
All batteries go bad

>Have a battery rated well above what your vehicle requires....
Then it won't fit in the car

>Own a battery charger High Amp starting functionality
Doesn't help on a dead battery, 15amp @ 120v is 150 amps at 12 volts. Still not enough to start a car, and it can easily be all sucked in by a bad battery.

>Drive a Truck with dual Giant batteries for 1600+ amps of 0 degree F cold cranking power
Both batteries can be bad. Just because you've got a dual battery set up in your diesel doesn't mean a bad battery won't trash the system.

>Own more than 1 vehicle so you have more than 1 option ?
Agreed.

>12 degrees

fuckin' pussy

>all batteries go bad
Yeah, but very rarely do they go from perfectly functionable to dead overnight if actually maintained

take it, shake it, booty quake it

>All batteries go bad
nigga you can detect this way earlier than it actually fails

>Then it won't fit in the car
some cars have space for a bigger battery reserved for a "cold climate" version

>Doesn't help on a dead battery
there are portable starters with lithium batteries, not enough for a diesel or a v8 but will start a shitbox

Who /notautisticenough/ for this board here

Thats why i said what i said

>Go to start 78 Nova

heh heh heh now they get to ride while I do sum snowdriving

It’s -8F right now, BTW.

You are like a little baby, try -20. You think you hate winter? Try having window cleaner freeze the second it hits your windshield, or your shifter feels like its moving through molasses and its a race to get to first before you get frostbite

When will they learn.

>-27c
why does the universe hate my baby

>he doesn't keep a "Winter emergencies kit" in his car at all times
The blame is entirely on you. I always have extra wiper fluid, a gas can, blanket, pocket radio (plus batteries), jumper cables, sand, jerky, and so on. You never know when you'll get stuck, or your car won't start, and for how long. Be prepared.

>keeping winter gear in your car year round
Lazy bones

>. You think you hate winter? Try having window cleaner freeze the second it hits your windshield,

I hate when this happens, just pisses me off, I tend to use the orange stuff for this reason.

Fucking lord why did it flip

My goddamn lens cleaner for my eyeglasses that I keep in the car froze.

>he doesn't have functioning pump jets

Rectify this ASAP.

Try -12

>pump jets
welp. I did put one of those plastic beads to measure coolant mixture in there because there was nothing on top of the spring.

Yeah that worked great for about 50 miles until the gas dissolved it and then I really had a problem on my hands in the middle of nowhere.
