Do you own a Suzuki? Do you like it?
I'm looking at getting a Suzuki (AWD SX4) but I hardly know anything about their cars. And I rarely if ever see Suzukis discussed on Veeky Forums
So let's talk about Suzukis itt

Kizashi is ok, the Euro ones are shit
Cabbocheebo
I don't know much about current Suzuki, but Geo Metros (Suzuki Cultus) are probably one of the most bizarrely unkillable cars I've ever seen.
Tell me about them. I've decided I'll import one as my next car.
>12k tach
that's quite optimistic isn't it?
My mum has one, I don't personally like it but that doesn't mean you wouldn't, here's why:
>twist-beam rear axle
This is the most rudimentary form of rear suspension, it's bad enough that most manufacturers are slapping these on their econo FF's (because it's cheaper) but there is NO excuse to run this set up on an AWD car in the current year - very poor quality.
>6 gears on a 2litre or less
This would be good if they were close ratio but they're all too long, good luck going up even a slight incline in 6th - I can only imagine using it downhill.
>Possibly runs off a MAP sensor for the ECU
I haven't looked into it but when I take my foot off the throttle to change gears it keeps revving for
Fun little shitboxes, sourcing parts might be a pain in the US however.
Grippy and fun on the toog though.
It's quite a rev happy engine honestly with a few mods you could most likely get it there, most I've had it up to is 11.
You'll notice the speedometer still only goes to 90mph.
Suzuki is notorious for tiny engines you have to rev the nuts off of.
Have an x90. Is bretty gud. T-tops leak like a bitch tho.
just get a civic for 3k instead. awd is a meme.
>Colorado
Maybe so. Is it decently reliable?
what year?
the early ones (2007-2009) are pretty gud
one of the nicest brake jobs I've ever done
>Pros
*pretty idiotproof
*low cost of ownership
*decent AWD system
*simple yet modern
*decent-ish engine bay layout
(lol why u down there oil filter, also such airbox very impress)
>Cons
*dogshit a-pillar triangle windows stolen from pontiac
(could be pro?)
*2.0 is somewhat anemic but good empeegees (dude revs lmao)
*plastic trim will fall off, plastic skid pan will break
>also to change mount #6 you must drop subframe
2008 SX4. Has under 90k on the odo.
I just want a basic AWD hatch that isn't a subaru. It seems to check the boxes
if it's clean i'd do it
especially if under 3k
super basic and the AWD surprised me when I drove it in our last winter storm that dumped on us (4+).
I went where ever my buddies Subaru forester went.
Holy fuck that thing is ugly I want it
Also how hard is sourcing parts for suzuki passenger cars? Would servicing an SX4 be any harder than an awd impreza or even a civic?
Should specify, I mean specifically in America
nah, the rock has lots of parts
even my local vatozone stocks sx4 stuff
bretty basic on the inside for an 08
I had an 02 Aerio Wagon
It was practical as fuck, and the AWD was nice
But it handled like a brick and was slow as hell
Yeah but with all vehicles that age you can run into some problems just keep up with maintenance service every 3000 miles and you should be ok.
I quite like the basicness, assuming it's priced accordingly. My Civic is full of gadgets I never use.
>tfw no rally sx4
that's good to hear
I've got an 02 esteem waggo with the 1.8. It's ~2600lbs and has more cargo length than a short box. My bike fits with the wheels on and I can sleep stretched out which you can't do in most modern cars. Shits been Honda or Toyota reliable from day one.
Parts are dirt cheap on rock auto but local parts stores are 2-3x the price and it still takes a week to get some parts in. So it's better to replace parts before you really need them.
The sx4 awd will be slightly slow stock but turbo it and you should have a fun little toy for a lot cheaper than something like a Golf R or a beat to shit vapemobile.
what would entail turboing a SX4? Some ebay parts and an afternoon?
Had a sx4 hatch and regret ever trading it in. It was tiny and somewhat uncomfortable on long trips. It drove very well and handled Pennsylvania winters very well. Was extremely cheap for repairs. Took them twisty roads like a champ but didn't have the power for anything uphill
uncomfortable due to bolstering/material/position? wonder if I could swap out the seats for something else. I don't believe they're all motored
