I can kinda see why he is in gold. He makes good callouts, knows not to overextend or trickle in but his gameplay is kinda trash.

i think its just people getting lucky in placement matches really. I've seen lots of diamond and plats playing in gold/silver ranks

D.Va is awesome at babysitting supports. Mercy is being focused? I fly up into the air and she follows me. Can shut down Tracer's attempts to hurt her and can harass Genji. Winston is a big source of ult charge if he dives her and I'll boost him out of his bubble so he can't dance inside it.

The average gold player is better than the average diamond player. Most diamonds get where they are by autistically grinding one character instead of...actually getting better. As a result they actually lose the skills to play other characters. It's kinda sad actually

Unless you can stay in air and keep attacking that won't help much on focusing, you just moved her up. Anything you can do against Tracer and Genji to protect Mercy Roadhog will do better without sacrificing his ultimate to not make your combination useless. And he doesn't even have to abandon the Mercy to kill Winston.

I mean I don't really have any control over people instalocking Sym and refusing to switch, or leavers, or people getting toxic and throwing because of other people

A Mercy flying to Pharah is never out of Genji's reach. Junkrats are usually too busy spamming to bother with the Mercy, but at least he has the bear trap. D.va's good at babysitting Mercy because of the Defense Matrix and being a tank to soak up the damage and a Genji going up walls the Mercy can follow as they're getting up there. Deflect actuall has a nice size that shields anyone as long as they're behind him and usually if they're swift striking behind the Genji the enemy's going to be dead with the burst combo.

You can find videos on youtube and honestly, it's not inefficient since you'll build that ult back up pretty quickly. It's not like if Pharah ults Genji he'd get fucked over when he can send it right back on her.
