Lock nuts are more of a car dealership's and manufacturer's fault as they out them to every car.

facebook-tier thread, faggot op
As a mechanic I have to dig through your car and try and find the "key". Assuming I don't have my own corresponding lug key. You'd be surprised where people put them. Rarely is it in the spare tire kit
Around here you need summer and winter tires so most people go to a tire changing place twice a year to get their tires swapped.
Many even basic cars have lug nuts in their wheels to stop theft, no one knows who would want to steal 2005 OEM Toyota Corolla wheels but dealerships include them in every car.
Almost every tire change shop has tools to break the lug nuts because it is so common that the key has been lost or last owner forgot to give it.
People usually don't even know they have lug nuts until they go to swap their tires.
Even dealerships don't carry all 120 different keys for every vehicle model and ordering takes a long time.

Dealerfag here, we have a masterset for OEM wheel locks
...
Op here, also dealerfag
We have a masterset but half of ours are missing so we always end up having to ransack a customers car to try and find the key.
No idea why the service writers don’t tell the customers to put the key in the cupholder or something so I don’t have to waste 15 minutes looking for it

Used to have same shit on my 3 until last tire change when the shit broke. Ended up with forcing the socket onto it to take them out. Changed all four for standard ones.
