Pity timers are different for each set. Using the pity timer for Old Gods won't make you "waste" it for frozen throne.

all of them have some cards you want but LoE has some of the most impactful ones with Brann (op as fuck), Reno (core in many of the strongest wild decks), Sir Finley (really strong in cancer decks), raven idol, anything can happen, tomb pillager, tunnel trogg and dark peddler
Naxx has some seriously broken cards as well, sludge belcher is played in every wild deck, mad scientist, in every hunter or mage deck, haunted creeper in most aggressive decks, nerubian egg and deathlord are also popular, death's bite is op as fuck, loatheb is an occasional choice, dark cultist, avenge and voidcaller are all played
brm is much more niche, emperor thaurissan is played in every other deck but aside from him there aren't any essential neutral cards unless you like dragon decks
it does feature some powerful class cards though with flamewanker, quick shot and imp gang boss

All 3 have some mandatory cards depending on what you wanna play. BRM if you ever want to play dragons in wild. It also has key shit like emperor and flamewaker. LOE is probably the best one in value $ wise as it has so many cards that were mandatory 2of's in its cycle. Naxx has only a handful of key cards you would really need but those few are very powerful like belcher and mad scientist.
all of them are pretty fun and worth it though if you like the pve content.

Not so fast, Mike, you will have to get rid of the other lower costed cards first, but if you run Reno you're probably playing an attrition deck, which means that even your lower cost minions have useful battlecries, e.g. oozes, that you can't just throw away. So it's definitely not as easy as you think
