Is there a way to launch 1.0004 STALKER through steam without it trying to update it? I know you can disable automatic updates, but steam will want to update the game before it lets you launch it if you choose to launch it through steam.

Let it update it and then downgrade afterwards. It doesn't keep rechecking.
You would probably be better off just using a GOG copy and adding it to your Steam library though if you want the overlay.

I just played CoC with Armory Overhaul
Are the other weapon mods worth it? Are they at all compatible with each other?

Asking which weapon pack is the best is like asking what [sports thing] is best. Just don't.
No they are not compatible.

STCOP has a bit less than AO does, but they are overall a bit more polished.
OWR has the least amount of weapons but at least they look good.

It is vanilla, it's just really fucking wonky.

How does it work?

Plus it's not like you can do anything then, they're still hostile so you just execute them.

It has something to do with them going down and you pointing a gun at them at the moment they go down. If they were bleeding out before you came over it usually doesn't happen.
You can talk to them and get a stash or a fist to the face if you're lucky enough to trigger the dialogue.

Been playing pretty much vanilla CoP forever, and wanted to do something to it, other than modifying ammo/item weight and similar minor stuff
