Has anyone driven one? I'm interested if the gearbox is as challenging as they say.

An Alfetta no but I owned a 90 which is the same car underneath with a 3 box sedan body. The biggest thing and it's common to all transaxle FR arrangements is if you're revs aren't matched you can't rush the change, if they're matched or you've gone from acceleration load to a quick gearchange you're fine, so I'd say it's more awkward at normal driving but driven hard you don't really notice it.
