It's a cheesy plot device writing-wise, but I really like the way Elson draws Super Sonic in this issue. Mega dynamism.

I'd go with Duckverse guys too, but my picks would be Claudio Sciarrone and Alessandro Stissi, because of their work on PKNA. I wouldn't mind Jon Gray on translations either, if he isn't totally turned off of Sonic after getting mismanaged by Archie.

OK tonights main feature, Fleetway Knuckles' storyline, featuring Dr Zachary, the worlds first franchised OC Echidna (According to the current state of thread knowledge)

I have no idea why Kitching is reverting to siz emeralds all of a sudden. Maybe Knuckles is stilling keeping the grey (controller) emerald up his sleeve, but then what color is the one on this page? Maybe Kitching meant to write on the the Emeralds as having grown into the master emerald. The count and setup feel off here, as I mentioned earlier around issue 50 when these problems first came up. I'm certain Kitching got plenty of autistic (angry at the time) fan mail about this.

Jon still loved his time on Sonic, he just hated Archie's higher management. Guaranteed he'd be onboard if they offered it.

The raised/wrinkled snout Dobbyn used here for Zacharry is a great way to emphasise age on Sonic style characters. Anyone seen this used on other older characters?

Knuckles' teaser questions are potentially canon breaking, and Kitching is a fairly good writer (emerald counts aside), so in fact, these won't be explicitly answered for some time.

But for the original classic character, reading ancient scrolls in a dusty library was a natural fit for his role and setup. Anyway, here's that Kool-aid robot.

It kind of bugs me how Chemical Plant, Launch Base, and Green Hill Act 1 are basically identical outside of a few extra instruments and voice samples, but then Stardust Speedway Act 1 in Mania sounds entirely different from the original.

I'm kind of surprised Fleetway ended up being less cartoony after all.

Fleetway smashed the Master Emerald way back in Dec 1995. Bet you didn't see that coming! I guarantee you won't guess how Knuckles keeps the island afloat either, but nevermind.

Again I've 'joked' about my Fleetway influence headcanon, but on a lot of this Floating Island stuff, the comic is VERY close to the mark of how Sonic Adventure came out in 1999. See my rant here about the Maya influences as well I think Fleetway influenced Sonic Adventure 1. For real. I'm serious. Fight me.

Continuing the Cyberniuk storyline, we return to aforementioned moustached citadel.

Anyone who has high expectations for a 3D Sonic game is out of their mind. Those games are so rarely actually good, it is better to just wait and play than waste time hyping them up.

Why Robotnik wouldn't have recieved an immediate damage report of such a disaster is beyond me.

And also, it's now obvious that Lew Stringer as well as Kitching were going for a John Baldry Robotnik.

Not enough Cybernik aeroplane tail in this strip. Artist almost seems to be avoiding it really.

Near as I can tell, he actually ties with Athair. Athair was introduced in Tails #2, which was published the same month as Zachary's debut. It would come down to the exact release date of the two comics. However, both are outdone by Princess Alucion and her tribe of echidnas, from the French comic published in October of 1994, and Eric from a novel published in 1993 (which predates Knuckles himself!)

Stringer is still running with the Metamorphia having a "thing" for Robotnik thing I think.

I disagree. The last few 3D Sonic games except Lost World has been really fun so I don't see a problem with hyping them up. And while I'm personally excited for Forces, I do think that SEGA needs to show off more of the game.
