Best theme?

will there ever be another dlc or is this game dead as fuck?

Give me a good weapon for a 99 luck/base stats build
I want max item discovery

It still strikes me as odd that Sirris is the granddaughter of Hodrick himself, given the difference in skill. The fighitng genes must have skipped a few generations.

what's more important for pvp

hp or dps?

>I want max item discovery
why?

hp
the idea of "damage per second" is just a meaningless nonsense in dark souls pvp

Farming proofs etc.

how are you supposed to kill anyone then?

Summon 3 phantoms, put on way of blue to get 2 blues and gank the shit out of anyone who dares to invade of course.

Guys, what if Gael's fight were changed so that when he goes full My Guiding Moonlight at the end of the first phase, he gets a title change? And when he enters the third phase, His boss bar disappears entirely, and you have to manually keep track of how much damage you've done to him? Fake difficulty, or crazy enough to work?

by hitting them when they aren't expecting it, or hitting them when they present an opening, not by doing "damage per second" to them. this isn't a fucking mmo

All PvP damage is burst damage, not damage per second. You're guaranteed two hits with an R1 from any weapon due to stagger, and only one hit from any other attack. Average DPS is meaningless.

if you can't kill someone fast then they'll just roll away and chug before their hp even gets low

try invading and killing someone with a weakass dagger or some other shit dps weapon

you'll be there all fucking day

Dps. Who needs hp when you're good enough to not get hit?

Stacking health is a crutch for bad players who haven't learned to avoid taking damage and only know how you mash r1 into other brainless morans.

Teach me your ways oh great one

HP.

combo to death.

Most common way to kill someone is to hit them with enough small attacks that they have ~60% health and then every time they use estus, hit them for 2 R1s, forcing them to back off and use estus again. Eventually they'll stop drinking (or run out of estus) and that's when you can combo them from 60% to 0% with an R1-L1-R2 combo or something similar. However, if you take enough damage during that process (through trading perhaps) that you have to heal, then you lose your chance to combo because they get a free estus.

DS3 1v1 is basically two players trying to get as many R1 combos on each other as possible, but if neither of them fully kills the other player, they both drink and it resets. Running out of estus is a "time out" where whomever had the drink the least now has the final advantage to kill since they can heal, trade damage, and win.

DS3 especially is not about DPS, but damage per combo and the accuracy of how many times you can start that combo.

The metrics that matter in souls are:

>How many hits in a row can you take before you have to drink estus?
>How many attacks and/or rolls in a row can you make before your stamina runs out?
>How much damage (as a % of enemy HP) can you do in a single staggered/unavoidable combo?
>How frequently can you land those combos, and how often do you miss?

Weapons like gaels have high accuracy of landing combos due to good range and speed, they have 3 hit combos that wipe out 80% of an opponent's health bar, and they don't require massive amounts of stamina to pull off.

that's not DPS, that's burst damage

>only invade in clusterfucks where no one notices you
>make a completely gimped one-shot build, hide in the background
>sparm R1 nukes against people who are in the middle of attacking other people
>pray to god that you never have to fight someone in a direct confrontation

it's not hard

fuck off duskposter

there is nothing - nothing whatsoever - you can do to stop someone from running and chugging when they get low, under any circumstance
that said, here's what i think you're asking: how do i do as much damage as possible within a single opening i get? gael's gs combo, splitleaf combo, a few other weapons have strong combos as well, and just ultra weapons in general will net you more damage per opening than a straight sword or dagger. the trade-off is that it's much harder to hit a target proactively by using those weapons than it is to hit them using a straight sword or dagger, so you will get fewer openings in the first place. dark souls pvp is more nuanced than just "hurr durr dps"

You could have distilled your entire post into 'The most common way to kill somebody is to apply pressure until they die'

I have recently developed an unquenchable thirst for Souls-related lewds and maybe also vore. What is everybody's sources for such things that aren't Dan/Gelbooru and Pixiv? Also maybe for comfy/good quality art.

You can't really stop somebody from drinking, but generally you can take the estus away from them again when they do, if you aren't being forced away by other factors.

Two R1s will generally deal about the same as they get back from their sippy.

>that's not DPS, that's burst damage
show me higher damage in a webm in pvp.

applying pressure doesn't always work though, and will get you fucked against anyone who knows how to use poise. Attacking first is usually a bad idea.

You just want to play defensively until they are within range of combo death, and then punish them every time they try to heal (while also trying not to get within combo range yourself). Maintain that until they run out of estus or decide to fight at low health.

>he doesn't know what the word DPS means

DPS is damage per second. R1 spam from a dagger is higher DPS than your webm, but DPS is pointless in souls because most weapons only get 2 hits before the enemy can roll away, you want burst damage (how much damage you can do in a single attack or combo), which you have a huge amount of.

Gael's or Splitleaf 3 hit combo does more burst damage than your spells but they require getting in people's faces to pull off, instead of preying passively on people from a distance.

This was me like 3 weeks ago, and honestly user you might have exhausted your resources

Im back anons from the pit of cuck work, whats going on

Everytime I do a Thrusting Sword specialist its always so shit for PvE and makes me lose interest

Oh, right. You're talking duels, I was considering invasions.

Are you the co-op user from last night?

...

Yeah, Hi user

fuck off duskposter

They're just fucking bad.
Most of them do too little damage for their stamina cost and have less reach than straightswords while also chaining R1s more slowly. You typically take one more attack to kill something than a straightsword with equivalent stats would and can usually only stunlock one thing at a time. Better yet, enemies with some way to break stunlock (eg. anything with hyperarmor or a shield) will almost always do so after the first stagger with a rapier, whereas they wouldn't against a straightsword. Any enemy with lower-than-normal stagger duration will simply walk out of your rapier combo or else trade with a followup.

They're just fucking tedious to use. There was obviously little to no QA work done on them after all the pvp-focused nerfs so they're left as just shitty weapons with literally 1 attack.

gang's all here
wew

Hey guys I might do nameless tonight how do you guys feel about that?

Get Ricard's and go ham with the WA

the guy in charge of balancing straight swords made them faster so that newbies could use them while the guy in charge of balancing rapiers made them slower because they were too fast for pvp in previous games, little do they know that all they ultimately accomplished was reversing their position on the tier list.

>ate the laser on the way down
What in the hell, doesn't he usually use the laser after backing away from everyone?

im looking to play my first souls game starting with demonsouls

what should i look out for? other tips?

I'm game for that. You want to go now or in a few minutes? I'm eating dinner right now but it'll be done pretty soon.

Play it the way it was meant to be played, blind for your first run. After you beat it once, start looking up stuff.

I'm down, don't know about antiquated plain garb user though

What? They're crazy good for PVE with buffs.
It's PVP they generally suck in unless you're pressuring someone with low HP because 90% of the time you'll be up against some faggot with a massive poise weapon that can easily kill you in 2 or 3 hits.

You only get materials for a single weapon of each upgrade path, so be very careful about upgrading different weapons.

World tendency and character tendency are a problem if you want to get everything, learn to figure them out.

If an area seems challenging, try somewhere else. There's a million ways to approach most problems, they're not that hard.

Magic (and the royalty starting class, which starts with good magic) is easy mode for Demon's Souls.

I think I was late getting there cause we were fighting a red

Why is it so difficult to bully Dark with Magic in DS2, but really easy to bully Dark with Lightning? You'd think the resistances would be roughly the same, but Sunlight Spear always chunks for way more than CSS against hexers despite CSS being more effective against everyone else.

No one in these threads can post PvP webms as good as mine or with higher pvp dps than mine.

Because most of you are terrible and need crutches like stacking all the health you can fit because you're not good enough to dodge hits.

I'm eating a fuckload of checkers right now so give me a bit

>544
>high dps
choose 1

Now I'm curious to see what would happen if the laser had eaten your entire HP bar instead of 90% of it.

-Get out and go play now. Don't spoil the experience for yourself.
-After 1-1 you can go to any level you wish, order level does not matter (except for 1-3, you need to beat one of the other archstones completely to continue the rest of 1-X)
-It's best advised for new players to put off World 5 for later.
-Each level and world have shortcuts, be on the look out for them.
-Each archstone enemies have their own unique weakness.
-The Monumental is up the stairs.
-Get out the thread and go play now.

All right, just post again when you're ready to go. Meanwhile I'll be sharpening my Irithyll Straight Sword in preparation for taking on the lesser wyvern and probably attuning Tears because I've never actually fought the fucker in a way that wasn't just cheesing it with arrows through that small-ass window.

Tight ass window on this shit

It is high for that soul level. Are you some kind of over leveled shitter?

Lucky for us i ran straight through the dragon so after nameless we have a little surprise to deal with

Which greatshield gets the highest AR with 66 STR?

giant door shield, prolly

Cute

Getting the hang of it

are you?

What controller are you using?

Let know when you two are ready, going to place my sign at the belfry.

Going to make my LGS +10 gimme a sec need 2 more chunks

Dualshock 4

>-It's best advised for new players to put off World 5 for later.
5 has parts that are a pain to navigate, but World 4 has much harder enemies. Thief's Ring makes 5 a joke.

Helps on 4 too with the goddamn flying stingrays

Hmm. Are you pressing L2 a bit before L1 and Up? Because I've been having trouble consistently pulling it off with my Dualshock 3, partly because I have to depress L2 fully for it to register.

Ready when you are.

So do the Millwood arrows not knock people down like the Dragonslayer ones do? Do the Onislayer ones knock people down or not?

Well this is fun

Millwood arrows knock people down. Onislayer arrows don't, even on headshots. It's the cost of having more range on your shots.

is it just me or do the animations in dark souls 2 look weird?

im ready

What are you doing?

I hate getting stunned for an extra 2 hits by those sneks.

Wew u love getting destroyed

JUST a bit too late on that heal.

I rolled like a champ

That falling attack was probably once in a lifetime. The fucking odds.

Boss invasion.

I can do this guy on ng+ but im eating ass now, fuck me up

some people hate them, some people like them.

They're more realistic but as a result also look doughy/slow/floaty. They tried to do motion capture for all animations, and then adjusted the length, so they have a weird uncanny valley where it's actual people's movements, but slowed down or sped up to match the weapon/action/weight class.

How exactly is he getting through the fog?

Do you mean how it looks like nothing has weight?

The weaponless running animation looks retarded. So far, the animation is the only problem I have with the game. Everything else is fine.

I like how estus heal over time.

I'm rolling like ass today, I'm sorry

Don't worry, we got him.

He's forcing himself into the host's world as a summoned purple. So he's inflating the boss's HP and can also enter the boss fog.

youtube.com/watch?v=y2vyIkoxAJE

Fine work guys meet you in Lothric castle ?

They are almost universally mocked.

For DSA? Sure.

How do you invade bosses?

At the dragon barracks actually

What is the strongest ranged WA on a melee weapon? IE moonlight greatsword, crescent moon, lothrics holy sword etc etc, there are a lot of them. Ill also count something like lorians greatsword flame wave thing.

Strongest as in, most likely to actually hit opponent, and actually does decent damage when it hits. I want to try a build where all I use is ranged weapon arts. Just poke motherfuckers all day.

Holy shit the multi is laggy as fuck
