From what I could put together, before Flowey erased Gaster, the world was different. In that world, Alphys created Flowey with full knowledge of the negatives about him, using research stolen from Sans as she had done in the past, but he was too timid to call her out on it. She did this to gain more medals, research credit and funding while, without regard for consequences. Her actions also earned Papyrus' hatred, who refers to her as a lab rat whom nobody likes.

Still ITTBG, suddenly current Sans and Flowey are back in the old world, which is impossible, but fuck it.

I'm still waiting for it to be revealed as a topsy turvy au and have Frisk from the canon universe show up to save Flowey. But honestly, eventually this contrived plot twist is still too good a writing for this comic.

They past few updates have been reconciling with Sans, or rather Flowey doubling down that things are his fault and he deserves it. Sans is being shown in a sympathetic light and neither the story or the askers really put any pressure on him for anything, but instead squee in delight any time he does something that doesn't immediately hurt Flowey, citing how great of a dad he is.

What's going to happen now, in my opinion, is that we'll get a couple pages of Alphys mutilating Flowey because gotta milk that child abuse fetish. Afterwards Sans bursts through a wall, tosses her around and rescues Flowey, so he'll be the hero and nobody will ever have to address that whole partial voring incident.
