Alright guys list your funny stories, advise some anons, or maybe ask how much you should sell your cars for.
I'm looking at a Dodge Neon 2005 SXT with 102,100 miles for 1400. Checked out the VIN, no stolen reports, no crashes. Based off of the photos, looks in very good condition. I'm a college student who is saving up money, should I buy the car? I'm thinking I can save up more for 2000, but not sure.
Oh Jesus talk me out of it Veeky Forums ventura.craigslist.org/cto/d/volvo-v70r-2004-awd-rare/6451643916.html He says "excellent" condition but the nighttime pics + the wear on the seats means its definitely not that (even with the claimed tranny maintenance). If it is more around the KBB Very Good then its over priced by a bit more than half. I wouldn't even be able to go see it for a few months bc militaryfag but if it's still up and the price is a bit lower/hes open to haggle then fuck ill be tempted. A 300hp AWD wagon expands my dong
Find an S60 instead. My buddy upgraded his and ran 375hp with a water methanol injection and tune. He just recently replaced the linkages for the AWD and upgraded the turbo. It's now about 450hp on 28.5psi.
I'd avoid it, my brother's Neon gave us nothing but problems when he got his. 65k miles and the radiator in his broke and leaked antifreeze into the trans and fried the whole car. Also had the dreaded "neon clunk" which we could never fix
Owen Powell
Hmm, did you notice anything prior that? Id like to look at the warning signs while I inspect the car soon.

siouxfalls.craigslist.org/cto/d/2006-hyundai-tucson/6453831890.html Honest thoughts on the Tuscon, I've never owned a Korean car before. I'm headed to work in Alaska this spring and while a manual and 4wd aren't essential, they'd be nice. Plus once I get there it'll mostly be driven on the weekends since I'll have on-sight housing. Most of the other SUVs in my price range are rusted Exploders and Blazers. My other options are Buicks, Impalas and the like. Don't really want a $3k Civic cause I need something with more cargo room and a big gas tank.
lookin at a 93 saturn SL2 with 25k miles on it i know absolutely nothing about this car, would it make a good daily driver or is it a shitmobile?
Aaron Butler
ksl.com/auto/listing/4092221?ad_cid=6 This seems like a good deal to me, what should I expect from a car like this? I don't necessarily care about the body damage
Cameron Turner
>25 years old >25k on the odo That car has been sitting still for a long time. Find out if it was store properly and still maintained semi-regularly. Early Saturns were disposable cars, built to a budget because they assumed you'd trade up every two years. Gaskets were particularly shit, even when new, so after 25 years who knows what they look like?
Henry Scott
Did he mod it himself or was it done professionally? Also >KSL Seriously, what do Mormons have against Craigslist?
Brody Rivera
>Performance shitbox >Performance shitbox that's been boy-racer modded. >What can I expect? Nightmares and agony. Be pleasantly surprised if they don't come.
Gavin Mitchell
Neons are pieces of shit. Read the sticky. >tractor-like NVH >shitty build quality >made in mexico >3 speed auto >no power rear windows >ricer community
Cooper Wilson
Hey man, I don't know. I'm not mormon. There's a lot more auto listing on here than on craigslist though, and it's easier to filter through the shit. About the mods, I don't know. I'll ask about it when I get the chance. Right now I'm really only looking around to see the absolute best I can do for my money
Andrew Torres
The KSL was largely in jest. I used to work winters on the Wasatch front and was always puzzled and amused at all the little parallel institutions that operate in Mormon country.
William Davis
Honestly, it's a little scary sometimes. Utah can feel like a different country on occasion just because of all the weird shit that happens
Luis Kelly
>55k >Puts cheap meme tires on it
Julian Scott
>2jz >Push rod
Wat?
Asher Flores
It's the only thing I could think of besides a tie rod and I don't know how a loose tie rod would affect the crank shaft. I'm not that familiar with Lexus engines, but I figured it had to be something valve related.
Jordan Lopez
Hes probably talking about the connecting rod. Ei: Rodknock.
Aaron Adams
Your Mom's a rodknock >I keed, I keed I should learn more about Lexus model specs, I just can't seem to muster up the interest though.

gainesville.craigslist.org/cto/d/1998-bmw-328i-convertible/6452541923.html What do my fellow supreme gentlemen think of this car. Was thinking I'd throw in a new driver seat (or just pay someone to upholster the current one) and convert the broken top to full manual by finding one off an early 90s 323i. Initial price is low so that gives me funding to fix the cosmetic shit. It's also missing some trim on the passenger side, not a big deal. > What will a new seat and an old top run me? Like $300 each? Couldn't get an accurate estimate because they're all over the place on eBay.. Oh and what do you think of the passenger door being stuck in recline? Easy fix or no? Overall car looks to be maintained well, dude says he has records and replaced plenty of shit. I'd still do a cooling system refresh if I get it though >inb4 get shit on for picking the clearly superior convertible
Dylan Butler
Came across this 1988 Nissan Sentra, looks clean af. Brother told me I should only offer $800 for it, what do you all think?
Yeah of he's done all of the regular stuff on it or had documents talk him down a hundred or two and buy it if the test drive is good. And get it up yo 80 on the interstate.
Asher Campbell
TO the guy considering buying a BMW. NO. just no. neither one of them. Run away as fast as you can from them. You pay for the badge..and thats it. THe 3 series has a tons of bad pieces. Shitty plastic components that will cause you big trouble. Suspension: I had a 23 year old car that had better suspension than a 3 series. The 5 series. It has a common problem with the ABS. The pump is located close to the exhaust system, so it tends to overheat and with time it will give you trouble. The part is super expensive. Also needs remapping. ALso, they tend to rust, mostly the 3 series. If you want a good car buy a merc.
it would be my first car. My parents gave me ~5k to get a nice safe 2004 subaru or something... they might be irked if I get a shitbox from 1987.
Anthony Lopez
Thoughts? Are these any fun to work on and fix up?
Robert Russell
Test driving the Horizon in an hour. Wish me luck
Jaxon Scott
I don't know about fun, but they're not hard to work on since they're really just a Toyota with a bowtie on the front. It's a shared platform with the sprinter and Corolla.
Ayden Stewart
post-driving report: it's horribly unsafe and fun to drive. Feels like a go-cart
I honestly don't know if I value driving a cool shitbox more than my safety.
Blake Bell
This is your first car, you are going to damage it. That's just a statistical given. Your personal safety is a factor, so is insurance premiums, also how you'd feel if you dented, scratched or totalled it.
Aiden Anderson
>77k miles >1987 I'm guessing that's actually 177k since five digit odometers were the standard. Still, a working Horizon with over 100k might actually be more impressive.
Brody Lee
Anyone have any experience with these? Looks like a good deal to me, but the fact that the odometer isn't necessarily working makes it seem a little sketchy. I don't know.
Jordan Rodriguez
It's a nearly 30 year old car with unknown mileage, it will have problems no matter what badge is on it. The best you can do is drive it to see what kind of shape it's in, and to see if the seller is honest about the condition. If you still like it, take it to a garage for a bumper to bumper, it normally costs about a hundred bucks. If the seller gets defensive about any of that, walk away.
Jonathan Carter
yeah but... I dunno. The owner knows a guy with three of them in his back yard, so at least I would have parts for it. And it's already a bit dinged up
yep, it had 5 digits. Probably 177k. Man is it a fun car!
Landon Hughes
do not do not do not do not buy this car please for all that is good and holy do not buy this car. they are terrible unreliable shit boxes. please buy a civic or a camry. i am begging you
Brandon Nelson
>go see s60r for sale >guy is college dude >think whatever might be sketchy but lets continue >car has major cosmetic issues, stuff like a failed pinstrip, interior falling apart >I'm over the car at this point, just going along with him to not just ditch him >he opens the engine >there's pizza crust on the engine bay >pizza crust >acts like he doesn't know how it got there
Jayden Rogers
Who puts up the hundred bucks?
Sebastian Robinson
You do, but don't worry about the inspection until after you've test driven the car to see if it has any glaring problems.
Ethan Gray
It's good that you know where to get parts because any car that old will take some looking after. Also I really would recommend getting an insurance quote, that may make or break the deal is well.
Lucas Edwards
I keked
Dylan Ramirez
yeah, the 3 extra parts cars close by to me makes it almost justifiable. He won't charge much either; 35 bucks for a not-cracked windshield etc. And the doors just pop off (zero wires going to them); so the dent on the left side door is easily fixable with a swap.
It's just a cool car, even if it is a oldie shitbox. The rear wiper control is on the DASH for some reason, the seats are /comfy/, there aren't any door pockets, seat pockets, or cupholders, and, get this, you lower the rear seats with a PULLEY which you can yank while standing behind the open hatch.
Robert Cooper
user's got a crush. I can relate, my first car was a 71 Super Beetle. Simple, fun, kinda weird. It did take a lot of looking after, though. Luckily my cousin owned a junkyard and had one we could cannibalize.
Cameron Martin
It's ok mr regular. You can go ahead and get it. It's time.
neither unless youre well prepared for maintenance. If you had to pick take the 325, cheaper parts. The only good E39 is the 540i, you can get cleaner 325s for that price.
Julian Phillips
Looks like a pretty good car. I’d get that tiny rust spot taken care of, get an alignment done somewhere that offers lifetime alignment(usually like $200 for he lifetime), and look into getting that radio issue fixed(If it just needs to be hooked up that can be done in less than 10 mins and should only cost 20-30 bucks if you need to pay someone). Of course check everything over like making sure the car is mechanically sound, and has decent tires as well.
Nicholas Brown
a 1991 318is was my first car, still have it. love that car, theyre super fun and nimble around corners. if the engine rebuild is legit then its worth about that price. just pitch for a manual swap in the future, it makes a world of a difference
How lucky can I get by buying a car for $1,000? Also is it worth it to take out a small loan for a used car?
Evan Reyes
>loan no
>1000 bucks I mean I might be buying a (drivable) shitbox Plymouth for 900 so sure
there are plenty of crapheaps out there that can get you from point a to b. Just don't let the sunk cost fallacy bork you over if you end up with an immovable hunk of metal eventually
Benjamin Hill
why no loan
Julian Hill
That car is actually worth pretty close to 55000... Mach 1s are kind of a big deal
