He MR2 SW20 is a good car. Snap oversteer was eliminated with the 2nd generation. Any other arguments?

I though snap over steer was a fault of the driver that occurred due to driving it like it was FR.

Did they relocate the engine in the 2nd gen?

No, they gave it bigger wheels and improved the suspension.

>implying there is anything wrong with snap oversteer
it's the perfect way for one to kill himself

Fantastic thread. Golly gosh how I wonder and lay awake at night laying next to my teddy bear, wondering: "Is the SW20 Toyota MR2 a good car"

>Is the MR2 a good car
Yes.

>Snap oversteer was eliminated
No. That's a driver error, simple as that.
In 1993 though, Toyota made slight changes to the rear suspension so the toe wouldn't change as much under load, put on slightly larger sway bars and gave the car wider/bigger wheels. Many people believe that this "fixed" snap oversteer in 1993 but in reality all the car really needed was those 15" wheels and a good driver.

>Any other arguments
Stop spreading this shit and read up, also here's a picture and video of a Diablo spinning out while chasing an MR2. youtu.be/U9h1UX4I4m0

But it's ugly and boring at the same time, it's not even good performance wise

>That's a driver error

It still can't beat AE86 on the touge

Best MR2 can.

...

I bet it couldn't beat 4A-GE

True shit youtu.be/JiBnGrf5-IM

it cant be fixed, they've just hidden it better

The 3S GTE and GE are very reliable engines, also a lot of power.

yeah it's slow as fuck

So is the 300hp Silvia that he fails miserably with afterwards....? youtu.be/RHpSrgHflVI
Says more about the Civic with good tires and intensive mods than it does about the stock mr2 on stock tires

Did the turbo really weigh one and a half fucking tonnes? w e w lad thats pigfat

shut

you are going to drive prices up

God fuck off

The turbo mr2 shouldn't be anywhere near 3000lbs. Depending on how you optioned them they could be 2500lbs to 2700ish max. My turbo mr2 came in at 2600ish pounds and the only things it was missing was power steering and abs. That being said I think the Rev 3s 94+ were a lot heavier because they got a huge power upgrade to 280hp with the gts model.

>depending on how you optioned them they could be 2500lbs to 2700lbs max

Not true, the lightest SW20 turbo was around 2650 lbs (iirc) to almost 2800. The lightest models were the 5S-FE and 3S-FE non-turbos that weighed around 2550 lbs.

>That being said I think the Rev 3s 94+ were a lot heavier because they got a huge power upgrade to 280hp with the gts model

Rev 3s in all markets got a passenger airbag and a couple of other things, making them much heavier. The highest power output of any SW20s ever was around 240 HP and a similar amount of torque, but the US market never got an SW20 making more than 200 HP and 200 LBS/FT of torque. The only differences in the Rev 3 Turbo models (GT and GT-S) was the switch to the 3rd gen 3S-GTE, which had lower compression ratio connecting rods, a better turbo, and bigger injectors, which shouldn't have contributed to any considerable amount of weight gain.

its ugly as shit compared to the first generation, defeating the purpose of getting a sporty mid-engine car in the first place (swagging out)
