Blizzard writing has gotten further and further away from what drew me to it in the first place and the writers clearly don't know how to make the details as appealing as the cliffnotes.
I mean, fuck, even Warcraft III falls apart when you deconstruct it and there's a bout a billion issues with just how much Arthas was in the Lich King at any given time but the longer Blizzard games drag on the more they drift into the forbidden zone of DBZ power levels where mortals are basically specs of dust.

Honestly this deck is literally perfect for Sea Giant, I would play two over one Doppel if I had it. I remember these fuckers cucking my shit up in Tanaris when I was still a noob and Uldum didn't actually exist

I'd like to get into Hearthstone because it's cheaper than mtg but whenever I try the game just feels so simplistic and random. Does that change at higher levels? I'm a pretty competitive player in mtg (gone to the pro tour before) and am trying to figure out if high level Hearthstone has the same uber competitive side.

Opponent just completed his quest and played Amara at full health. Little did he know that I got a Pyro from Glyph and another from Babbling Book to burn down his 40 health. Complacent little fuck.

Its a rather simplistic game. WoW TCG was much better, but its dead now.
Its also not that cheap either. If you want to have a diverse collection, its gonna cost ya some (less tha mtg, though)

Hearthstone is moreso Wizard Poker than it is mtg-lite, the skill cap is as high as you can take it but like in poker you often have to realize sometimes you just can't win due to unforseeable circumstances and your good play is only the biggest percentage play

There are some genuinely interesting decks that arise from the rng though

Magic the Gathering is a paper card game as well as a digital one. MTGO is cheaper, but my collection is largely in paper because that is the format in which most competitive tournaments are held.

Hearthstone is still an interesting game to approach from a top level actually, it can just be frustrating sometimes. There are very few people here that regularly make legend and those are usually the people doling out advice. The pro scene is mostly threaded through twitch and is a unique place to learn the gamr that mtg doesn't have, smaller streamers are happy to answer any question

If you're the type of person that is already accustomed to investing in card games the buy in isn't THAT substantial, but can be considered a bit hefty at the beginning while collecting the staple classic cards and then crafting to make certain decks

As I said, the game seems very simple to me. I'm just not arrogant enough to think I can totally discern how deep it is in high level competitive play after playing less than 30 games.
