What if you take the chassis of a RWD car, take out the engine, and then get the front engine/trans/cv axle/suspension of a FWD car and somehow manage to weld it to the rear?

Could it work? I'm serious, I want to know if this could work because if it's never been done before I want to be the first one to try.

It's called an MR2

you can do pretty much anything, given you have the time, money and tools to do so

Why not just remove the frame from the chassis, re install it backwards so the trunk is the bonnet and the bonnet is the trunk, then constantly run it in reverse?

what is an MR layout.

you cna buy these stock

because then you'd just be going 10mph in only one gear in reverse

...

>rear engine front wheel drive
Why are there only a couple of examples of this layout ever being used? Despite being awful it's got to have at least some advantages in some particular circumstances?

The radiator had to be all the way to the front to cool the engine properly, if it's in the rear it won't be enough

It's been done. Just start with the FWD car though. It's not that much extra work to put the engine in the back of a FWD vs a RWD. Possibly less or equal depending on chassis.

Do you know where I can find this? Did they blog about it somewhere?

>He's never topped his reverse gear out
My old Sentra would do 27-28 in reverse around 5.5k. I imagine 30-32 was the top speed in reverse.

Look at honda forums. It's been done with tons of CRXs and Del Sols. Recently the most well-done one was a Del Sol with a K20 in the back.

google RWD Del Sol, it will show up.

Hey guys! Is the original line artist for this image here? This got posted on Chris Fix's Instagram and got over 11,00 likes, which is crazy. I messaged him telling him that I did the coloring and background because, in his post, he asked for the original artist to message him. Well, he never responded and refused to mention either myself or where the picture actually came from, which is a cunty thing to do.

Fuck, I meant to make that it's own thread. My bad.

someone actually built a midengined 500 Abarth

No, it's just awful

dude i was in that tread it was some drawthread boi asking o for youtubers to add to it and was an unfinished product happened last year november timeframe. crazy its gaining traction anyways theres multiple people claiming it theres a no background original colorless ,colored no and with background versions good luck finding him

well the weight is on top of the rear wheels which helps with grip when accelerating

the center of gravity would be pulled back and make for needing way more downforce in the front watch some mr2 drag races they can barely keep the front on the asphalt. mid engine is pushing it on axle would be cancer your car could possibly flip on its ass on a clutch dump not to mention extreme understeer on acceleration and oversteer on decel on cornering

its been done

Rear engine front wheel drive. The weight is not over the drive wheels.

wasn't the fiero this basically?

Well it is literally first gen MR2, the rear is pretty much borrowed from some fwd car.

>X1/9

Nope, it actually doesn't have any advantages. It has the handling and packaging issues of rear-mounted engines with none of the traction benefits of the engine's weight being over the driven wheels.

Then get a CVT gearbox, full speed reverse :^)

i was young and a pot head once too
the first thing i though of is pic related

Really wanna do this to an old american escort wagon and a 460, am i in the wrong?
