You already have tons of moments in the Trails games that get the same job done. Trails plots aren't so vapid and uninteresting that they have to relegate most of the character development to side conversations.

The game itself is pretty fun and has a lot of secrets to it than I doubt I even found half of if you like those sorts of things. NPC's are pretty involved in this game too, and you even have a menu screen where each one of them has 3 notes you can get for each of them like in CS. For me though I was really surprised at how good the characters and story was. I've played a fair bit of the the more modernish Falcom games so far, and while stuff like Gurumin or Xanadu Next have pretty good stories for what they are I was much more invested in what Zwei 2 had going for it.
