>tfw according to physics they have a point

something about mass in the physics calculations idk

This. Without modern air bags, seat belts, and crumple zones, you are the crumple zone. The old car faring better in the crash transfers much more energy into the occupants, rather than dissipating it around and destroying itself like a modern car, which leads to fewer injuries and deaths. You WANT the car to be unrecognizable after the crash, that means it did its job.

are you 12, or just thick?

>if I wreck I'll just be thrown clear
>seatbelts kill more people than they save

Not to mention that, old cars would end up with bent A pillars and the engine inside the passenger space, which is so much worse for repair.

60's cars were much lighter.
A 60's mustang weighs the same as fiesta

Dude I had this lady tell me she was lucky she was in a 1970s Ford F150 when she got T-boned by a semi truck who blew a stop sign. She broke every bone in her body. If she were in a new truck with a 5 star crash rating and side airbags like a Tundra she probably wouldn't have been in a coma for 3 months.

Size>Airbags

in low speed fender benders, old cars win, in anything above low speed, new cars are 100000x safer.

>this little knowledge
>and yet he is uses a trip

metal is safe-

>entire front end of the car collapses and gets impaled by the metal

>grandfather is deathly afraid of getting into my 1997 Toyota Celica
>car has a few paint chips, but is mechanically sound
>thinks my car is made of aluminum
>point out the specs of rust on the body and tell him aluminum doesn't make red/brown corrosion

This is the same guy who crashed 67 Ford Fairlane at 40mph and had to be airlifted to the hospital in the 90s

>be me, driving 70's American steel landyacht
>cruising with friend, some JDM tyte shitbox
>some guy runs a red light
>slam on the brakes
>buddy is clueless, he hits me
>look in my rearview
>his hood's all fucked
>headlights smashed
>grill and bumper and destroyed
>pull over to see if he's alright and inspect the damage
>mfw not even a dent

I don't think the new F-150 is smaller than the old one. If anything it's bigger.

Can we get some old crash test videos posted?

youtube.com/watch?v=C52kyLzquW0
Finally found an AE86 crash test video:

Sorry, I thought assumed that a tundra was a little cuckbox or something

I see you finished the unit on mass in high school physics, never got to energy transfer obviously

as much as i dream of having an old 70s metal shitbox im terrified of what would happen to me in a crash, i mean if im gonna die i dont want it to be too painfull

i love that the ae86 was drifting into a pole
im imagining it being some eurobeat blasting weeb sliding into a tree

Obligatory fiat seicento whatever the fuck

Ncap

Real life, rear-ending an xc70 tank
youtube.com/watch?v=4yeCG6SS5wI

I get it, crumpling is supposed to happen but jesus fuck the A pillar splits apart. Meanwhile my mom still drives a seicento and says her prayera will keep her safe.

Older cars are better at low speed crashes and if you care more about your car than your life.

>Have old 1950s jeep
>Belong to old jeep forums with lots of older people
>Running joke is that the old jeeps didn't have seat belts because if you thought it was going to crash you'd better jump clear or you WERE going to die

Death traps.

the crumble zone is supposed to be the engine bay not the A pillar

anyone have that video of an old 200 series volvo or w/e getting completely blasted by a modern ecobox? used to really trigger jimmies a few years ago

DURRRRRRRRRRRR MODERN CARS SO GUD DURRRRRRRRRR EVERYTHING WEIGH'S 2 TONNES

>get slammed into by a modern car
>old car just crumples all around
even with "muh crumple zones", they wouldn't stand a chance
the main reason why cars are safe nowadays is their strong as fuck passenger structures
I want one of those old GM cars with those fuckhueg airbags

NVM I found it

commence missing engine conspiracies and butthurtz

>XC70 is barely scratched
bull fucking shit

also here is one vs toyota yaris

>MUH OLD CARS XDEEEEEEEEEEE

ooops youtube.com/watch?v=KxPe9IGfchg

obligatory video. proves how delusional boomers are.

>b-but dude muh fender benders
lol

except humans can heal where as metal cant.
i rather have a car that can survive a crash then one that becomes a scrap

Are you stupid? have you seen this youtu.be/fPF4fBGNK0U ? Modern cars are not only safer, but made of stronger steel

what if i want to die

m8 old cars are just shit, even in fender benders, they fare worse because the A pillar is made of weak steel, which just bends and the dash just comes off, and the engine just slides in the passenger compartment. I love classic cars, but I hate the myths that surround them.

>mfw my car is just as unsafe as car's from the 60's and 70's
>mfw its less safe than ones with an airbag
>it's from the year 2000
if I ever get into a head on crash or t-boned, I am absolutely fucked.

>thinking the european povertymobiles have any form of rigidity at all
Those V70's, xc70's, etc. are fucking tanks man. The xc70's rear bumper has some scratches but yeah
>any year
>trusting A segment povertymobiles with your life
Shiggy diggy

youtube.com/watch?v=fPF4fBGNK0U
This Video proves how the new cars are safe

their investment is safer and thats all boomers give a fuck about anyway

youtube.com/watch?v=emtLLvXrrFs

>a volvo 940 is as sturdy as a post 2010 xc70
REALLY grasping at straws here m8

A+ bait

ye I know thought you'd get butthurt like typical volvo fan tho

Nie bait that's for sure. I just like certain car models, that doesn't mean I turn a blind eye to faults. Rampant fanboyism is cancer

>I'll just be thrown clear
Has this ever worked for anyone?

>physics calculations
I dont know anything on the subject, but I chuckled heartily at this.
