Shock Troopers is probably my favorite overall, co op was so much fun.
It's about as good as Doom II Tbh, which means it's way above average for a game released after HL2.
Cocoron is great, it's like a Mega Man clone with custom characters.
I also recommend Gunstar Heroes highly, A+ game.
Because most people who are not playing infiltrator are not used to stealthing around. Especially if they have to react to someone's stealth and not control their own.

Play the retro games (Final Fantasy Adventure on GB or Sword of Mana on GBA, Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 on SNES, and Legend of Mana on PSX) and you're good to go. Also Secret of Evermore.
The difficulty curve is intense for those kinds of encounters, so if you're not used to them (or just under-levelled) it's understandable if you get stomped.
They're good for Dire bosses, though.

Before you open the ROM you need to go to >tools >game overrides >disable autodetect >enable RTC.
Then start the ROM without closing the game overrides window.

You can only get kenshin to love after getting locked to a route, as for the other units there's probably something you need to do first.
