can't you put the apex seals in the housing of that (where the three points contact the rotor)? You could change out apex seals easily like you would electric motor brushes lmao

Yes, at least for American car manufacturers who already class their products as disposable items with a life of 5-10 years maximum.
I really doubt they'll put this in cars. The rotor has a lot of channels in it that require the intake and exhaust to be on the flat sides of the triangle shape, so it takes in and ejects gas along the axis of rotation. In other words, its limited to one or two rotors.
I suppose they could put more traditional valves on it but they would need three sets of cams to do it, which would be horrendously complex and negate the compact size entirely.
Just put a channel between the rotor housings and you can run as many as you want.
