I had a c5 vette when i was in college and have never had that issue with the nozzle cut off or with any other car I have ever driven, unless I didn't put it in correctly or something. Maybe something is wrong with the filler pipe?

Yeah I've got run-flat Goodyear F1s on the black Corvette. Not the best for snow.

Surprisingly, my traction control and active handling were never triggered even with the heavy cornering we did before it started snowing. On the way down we went fairly slow due to the weather.

Not sure. We didn't exactly take a tally.

Though someone did say at one point they didn't know how to drive a manual.

any idea what the actual ambient temp was? I've just heard and seen on my own tires that they don't do well sub 50 degrees. I've run both Hankook RS-3's and Federal RS-RR's in the last year and they both break free much more easily on cold days.

On the route up the mountain it was low 40s and upper 30s. As we approached the highest points it was 28-29.

That's according to my car's climate control readout. Of course at the base of the mountain it was warmer and gradually cooled off as we climbed.
