The 1st to 3rd gens of Gol are quite salvageable actually. They somehow managed to make them very exciting to drive as rally cars.
Shorten the gears, tweak the carburetor/ECU, slightly raise the car height, get 2 pairs of AR-300 tires, install a roll cage (cause otherwise you'll die on a 30 km/h crash). And you get a hatchback-sized kart.
