Why can't trucks or all vehicles in general work like modern locomotives? Will big oil suicide you?

Modern locomotives are made for hauling ridiculous amounts of power where a setup like that makes sense, and while it isn't very fuel efficient they make up for that with massive amounts of volume freight

A semi truck will get vastly better fuel mileage with a mechanical connection to the drive train not to mention it will weigh less and carry more cargo.

that's true I had to make one 1900 mile run with a T880 with a 500hp Paccar and it was way worse than this. only thing that was kinda nice about that engine was that it pulled all the way up to 2200. this ISX says right on the valve cover, 500hp at 2000rpm but if I actually take it up that high it's falling on its face and dropping boost. not impressed.

Lost that handtruck, yesterday I was searching for an extra one because guys always steal them and stash them away. We’re supposed to have 3 hand trucks (normally 2 stand ups and one convertible lay down) and I couldn’t find any hiding in the trailers in the yard. So I found where guys lock theirs up, saw a group of 4 (so one more than we’re supposed to have) and using my European ingenuity and the ways I learned from dindu coworkers, I cracked the combination on the lock and stole one. And then this morning I found another one in a van so I went from 3 to 2 to 4.

I have to do this a lot. Pic related I have a couple stops in this shopping center and I come in from the north. There’s a restaurant delivery just to the east and I typically wait for a break in traffic so I can go to the left and don’t have to risk crashing into the fountain in the center.

Funny story, my sister was down here for Xmas and my mom was driving her to the airport at 5:30 am. A Pepsi truck was in front of them on I-95, hit a bump, and a handtruck fell off and almost crashed into her car.

Those things don't actually do anything. They help for maybe .2mpg unless it's windy or raining and you have to go like 300,000 miles without them breaking to even break even and you can't go 300,000 miles without one breaking.
