Make sure you have enough fluid in the brake master cylinder. If it's good, the parking brake switch or its wiring is probably shorted.

OR the handbrake cable lining or rubber boot at the end is worn/cracked and has allowed moisture to enter and freeze. I found out several weeks ago when we dropped below freezing here this is a common issue with MR2's...
