Reposting LW1 medic theorycrafting:

Early Counter-Terror:
Field Surgeon, Rapid Reaction, Paramedic, Opportunist
Field surgeon keeps the A-squad in action, RR for shotgun, paramedic so the squad doesn't slow down against mints, Opportunist rehabilitates the soldier for lategame. Can also go for council missions, you don't want to suppress thin men anyway.

Early Line Medic:
Suppression, Rapid Reaction, Smoke Grenade, Dense Smoke
The dense smoke rehabilitates late game suppression by allowing the medic to smoke himself before suppressing a dangerous target. RR vs S&M is arguable, the ability to kill 2 in overwatch is very useful earlygame even if it falls off quickly. Make them from high-aim low-will guys!

Late Line Medic:
Steadfast, Smoke and Mirrors, Smoke grenade, Drugs, Sprinter, Extra Conditioning
Psi, Versatile. Savior may replace EC depending on survivability.

Late Base Assault Medic:
Steadfast, Revive, Smoke Grenade, Drugs, Bombard, Packmaster
Lots of consumables, bombard to help throws in those nasty cover-deprived UFO corridors.

nope

You pretty much always need a dedicated armor shredder in the lategame, to deal with sectopods and especially gatekeepers.

I like to use rocket technicals with shredder rounds and the shredder perk (because concussion rocket is fucking useless anyway, why did Lump think it was a good idea to give smoke to your enemies?)

Then with one shot you remove 5 armor, then chainshot/rapid fire with bluescreen rounds, bye bye sectopod.

Sectopods were worse in LW1. At least here you have heat grenades, shredder, etc.

That's too early. I guess I'll just have to filter out all XCOM content for the last two weeks before release.

I prefer this to having the embargo lift only a day or so before launch.

Shows at least there is some good faith in the industry.

In LW1, my Portent map seems to be bugged. I don't play with the DLC missions on, and whenever I get this map in the rotation, it only spawns with one pod of 3 on top of the close building.

This happens if I get the map for the very first mission of the campaign, and I just had it again on a Heavy Abduction. Is this a known bug and/or does anyone else have this happen?

Any fixes for LW Toolbox resetting the squad size to four? I want to play with a squad size of six, since I enjoy playing with ABA 2 on Commander.

HQ Assaults are almost always swarming. Infiltrating past 100% still helps, but they're never going to be easy fights. Fortunately they aren't timed, so you can overwatch crawl your heart out.

I think they get nuked when you liberate a region, either that or doing so takes a block out.

There's not really much you could do to them but scopes. And that is covered by extra aim from higher tier throwers.

I hardly use them anyway, they're a backup weapon.

Cannons have a close range penalty so the knife is supposed to help out in close quarters. Really good vs sectors and vibroblades are cheap.

volatile mix is not biggest booms

biggest booms is a 50% chance to deal +3 damage on grenades. chain shot gives you burst damage from your grenadiers that doesn't rely on consumables.

in vanilla biggest booms is a bonus perk from the GTS you can buy for all grenadiers, in long war it's part of the demolition tree

so is Beagle on a trap mission or did he just get really unlucky
