Do PS2 classics run at higher resolutions on PS3/4?

PS2 Classics on PS3 do not run at a higher resolution than on PS2.

PS2-on-PS4 games do run at a higher resolution. They also have trophies (PS2 Classics on PS3 don't).

Note that owning a game as a PS2 Classic on PS3 will not get you the PS2-on-PS4 version, and vice versa. They're not the same thing (yes it's dumb).

i have a slim ps3 and some games have slowdowns, i'm using the official ps2 classics bought from PSN

persona 4 when you go into the tv and the swirly thing animation comes up, it's very choppy like 15fps, other than that it's pretty good

the devil summoner games are really bad, the slowdowns happen as you're playing the game

i just gave up and bought a ps2 with 1 original dualshock from korean flea market, cost me about 20 dollars. what i like about it vs the ps3 is i put my hand on the back exhaust and it doesn't get hotter than my breath.

Ico was just an example of the game which is borderline unplayable on modern TVs with its nonexistent resolution getting stretched over all this space. Most ps2 games aren't that bad but still want upscaler.

Question for you guys

I'm going to buy a PS4 soon because there are loads of games on it that I want to play, almost all of the singleplayer, like Witcher, LBP3, yakuza, wipeout,bloodborne etc etc.
but I've been told that the PS4 is heavily reliant on Internet and downloading DLC only playable with a online connection, and some games just being outright not playable.

this is a huge problem for me because I don't have any Internet at my home, everything has to be done at my friends house (including me typing this)
how fucked am I in this regard.
I don't give a fuck about playing online with other people, (i.e bloodborne/DS3) and would honestly prefer it that way.
I know I won't get a straight answer from /v/
