Free engine swap

Hey you, yes YOU. You are now given an option to have any engine (as in any engine you can think of and not just from the ones from this image) you want under the hood of your shitbox(es). What do you choose and why? Bonus points are awarded for unique and/or interesting swap ideas.

Honda

Mazda 13b REW into my RX-8. Not much of a swap, but definitely fixes the power choke that the Renesis hits quite solidly around 400. Since it comes turbo'd already it's much easier to make real power, and that'd save a whole lot of custom work.

3s-ge in my Miata. I don't need high horsepower and I don't want a big engine to throw off weight distribution.

>No K24
For shame.
I'd pick the SR20DET for my mx5, despite all bar the junk EJ20 being able to fit easily.

Where did you get this top 6 from? Just because they're sought after, doesn't mean they're without many flaws.

Was that image made by an F&F fanboy?

2zz-ge in a Yaris. Lighter than a k20 but performs very well.

You can pick anything friend, read the full OP

I'd put an LFX V6 with a centrifugal supercharger into a vz sv6

will certainly put a few v-twins in the suburban.

>3s-ge

why do you keep reposting the same shittiest threads on Veeky Forums?
fuck off back to your discord and stay there

85kw Tesla swap on the rear + stock F23 w ebay turbo kit on low psi setup in the front = Focus RS Killer :^)

gimme a NSX ass accord too pls

>rotary
just LS swap that thing stop being deluded on the rotary meme

I didn't say it was lightweight, did I?

ill stick with my k20A

I own a W124 Mercedes with a M103 engine and a NA SW20 with 3S-GE engine.
The Merc is a straightforward case LS swap it and we are done.
Not so sure about my N/A MR2 through. Porsche flat-six engine might be interesting, sacrifice the trunk and convert to RR layout if necessary. Seriously through if I were to engine swap my MR2 what would be the most practical/cost effective option available to get somewhere between 200 and 300hp?

"I don't want a big engine to throw off weight distribution."

Does it have to be under the hood?

Because if not I will swap an LS into my Ford Ranger but have the engine placement in the bed of the pickup so I have a mid engine rwd manual vehicle.
Plus it wouldn't fit in the front.

>have the engine placement in the bed of the pickup so I have a mid engine rwd manual vehicle.
Genius!

No, but it was implied with your mention of weight distribution. A smaller engine can weigh more than a bigger one and alter it.

Dodge Demon engine in my 2001 Mustang

No, you would lose traction and oversteer into a crowd of gawking rednecks because you're a fucking child.

I guess you've seen that top 1000 mustang spinouts compilation, too.

Why is this thread still a thing?

1LR-GUE in a CRX.

Cuz.

H23A from the current F22B1

This or a supercharged LSX-454 under the hood of my 06 CTS

The rotary in that image is definitely not a 13B-REW. It's probably a Renesis.

is the 2JZ THE greatest engine of all time?

SR20DETT into a Honda Type R 2000 hatch back

It’s been done before. Love the shell look and rear wheel power. It’s BEAUTIFUL. My friend turned his shit box civic into a rear wheel machine, actually handles really well.

Wait any enigne, not realistic.

Gotta be a rotary turbo swap. Gotta love that 0 weight.

Fiat 1.3 litre FIRE engine
Reliant robin

Only engine that easily fits in the engine bay and mounts to the gearbox with an adaptor plate. More power and reliability.

I'd take the 2JZ-GTE any day. Kindof a meme-engine, but i dont give a fuck.
>top 6 best jdm engines
Has an EJ20 but no EZ30. What the frick?

I want a 1GZ-FE in my sc400... somehow.

I agree what MRS needs is less weight.

It was only ever put into 1 car.
it's a v12.

Renault EF4 in an NA1 NSX

Does the engine have to be stock? If so, I guess just a vvti 2jz-gte. If the engine can be modified, a twin-turbo 1UZ w/ forged internals.

LS swapped twingo.

International 7.3/444 IDI Turbo-Diesel

Fuck it. If it can be modified, full blown race spec twin turbo 1UZ. Fully built, custom cams, race heads and everything. Make that thing sound like a rocket ship.

How should that even work?

Honda V8 that being used by ariel atom

Cummins prius

>Heavier
>High COG
>has to be further forward
>Low revving and high torque requires a full drivetrain replacement instead of simple upgrades, adding absurd levels of extra work for going no faster
>Is an overly complicated box of bouncy pistons and valves.
>Making the car objectively worse in every single way other than power and torque

It offers not a single benefit for any racing other than the drag strip. A 13b REW can make 500+ horsepower with ease and that's all you can really use in such a light car on anything but slicks, and the difference in handling goes far, far beyond any power difference in lap time. I bet you actually think driving in a straight line for 8-12 seconds is fun though.

Oh and if you want to pull the reliability meme, an engine swap is 100% going to be less reliable than literally anything you replaced. Custom stuff simply doesn't like to work, far more time and money is spent on a single LS swap than replacing it with a rotary 3 times or more.

M178 from the new E63S into my W201, RWD only and with a proper manual.

M178>LS

A Porsche flat six will never fit in an MR2, the overhangs are too short for RR and the cabin is too small for longitudinal MR. Most practical would be either building your current engine with a turbo, or going for an n/a K20/24 swap, should be good for up to 300hp if you push it. 300+ is easy on those K's once you add boost: a Rotrex centrifugal will get you over 400 without problems.

and the car will be an altezza rs200

>no 1LR in that list
Yamaha a best, eat shit OP

Mercedes M120 V12 under the hood of my 300CE
Literally double the engine
Double cylinders
Double torque(ish)
Double power(ish)
Double size and weight probably
Would have to upgrade to SLS in front and I'd pry do all around just because

you missed a spot

Top 10 JDM Engines could be all from Toyota and Honda. Sure those Nissan engine are at least good to drive, but their reliability is not even close

M156 without a doubt. I'd have the only manual transmission C63 in the world.

>and then my transmission explodes

I was going to ask OP where the 4A-GE was in his picture

Audi TSFI Inline 5 into my MkIV GTI
That'd be a riot

Barra turbo 6 in my 2014 Vsex mustang.

If I'm gonna have 6 cylinders, I'm going to have them in the right layout. Maybe put the 3.7 cyclone I take out into a crown vic...

No.
>Pigfat
>Iron block
>Long
>Can't rev

Currently own a GSX1200 (basically a double shock naked Bandit), a 13B in this would be amazing, as would a K24.

A turbo Twinair would be lighter and more powerful, especially with a tune on it.

20b in a NA Miata
How would that even realistically fair?

>I guess you've seen that top 1000 mustang spinouts compilation, too.

Or any mustang leaving a car show ever in the history of the world.

Stang confirmed most squirrely pony car of all time, OF ALL TIME!

>picture shows a 2JZ-GE
Get it together man

>130hp to the REAR WHEELS

M42 under my everything

1UZ into the Celica I have.

13000 rpm hayabusa miata

Those weigh at least 200kg, pigfat for a six cylinder. Might as well get an S65: bit more power, and it'll actually fit in a Miata.

Tried putting a Volvo B5254R in a Miata once, doesn't fit. The Speed Six is a bit longer, because of the added cylinder and the bigger bore - 13mm per cylinder adds up.

Except that wasn't a Honda V8, but a Hartley.

Less than 50lbs and 1% weight shift after the swap including full drivetrain, which is more than offset by the reliability, nevermind the power. That box of bouncy pistons is conceptually more complicated, but we're really good at making round and straight objects to great tolerances. That wired shape of a rotor housing, not so much, which means that the conceptually simpler rotary is practically worse outside of endurance racing.

If you think a 500hp rotary is reliable, or at least as reliable as an LS swap, think again.

Why not buy an RX-7 at that point?

LS7.
Goodbye 10-bolt.

Any boxer engine is shit, it's a retarded design.

What makes you think that?
>inherently ballanced
>short
>low center of gravity

Just buy a vette at that point

Giant Cummings Marine diesel rear mounted on the tray of a 70s ftruck

low cog is such bs. extremely negligible at the least

Well, a low center of gravity reduces load transfer, wich makes it great for cornering.

Audi RS6 v8 into my 03 passat wagon so then it basically becomes an RS6 Volkswagen. Manual swap would be nice too since the autotragic is absolutely terrible

LOL
