I want to learn awd drifting

i want to learn awd drifting
would an a4 be good?it's on the heavy side, but i'm more than confident the drivetrain can take it and much more
also old luxobarges depreciate like mad, to the point it would cost me half as much as a subaru or other japs

no its shit

Y tho?

>confident the drivetrain can take it
on what grounds? isn't it a fwd biased haldex unit?

a4 has a torsen system

still it probably will break when trying to drift

Torsen, my nigga
All 3 diffs
Literally the best car Audi built in a long fucking time

>Break
>Torsen
Unlikely
Still, rwd conversion isn't that hard

Pretty sure all those drift slut A4s have been converted to RWD

Some are
Some are not

you can never truly ''drift'' an awd car you will only do power sliding.

U is dumb
Don't reply to this thread

I feel that you are from yurop, why not shitty BMW or even old Ferds?

Then if you wanna try to drift one you're gonna have to boost it pretty high (1.8T is a pretty good balance of tuning potential and weight) and you'll need a transmission that can take the abuse, preferably the 6-speed manual from an S4. You'll probably blow up the stock 5-speed pretty quick if you're running a high power 1.8T or supercharged 2.8 30V.

BMW was indeed my other option, since e36s are 100€ around here
But the point was to try my hand at this 4wd thing
Yeah, my aim was a S/C s4
Dunno yet if sedan or wagon

>S/C s4
Are you talking B5 or B6? Because the B5 has the 2.7T and while there are twin charger kits available, that's a car that'll get real expensive real quick. You'd be better off with a 1.8T or 2.8 30V and boosting that.

2.8 is v6 or vr6?

90 degree V6, although people have put VR6s in them too. Shouldn't be that hard using Passat VR5 bits.

So b5 1.8 or b6 2.8, gotcha

go for it
your gonna need to install a hydro and master scandinavian flicks tho.

i think being heavier will actually help you at least for starting.

youtu.be/2HVtHnaGgWI

have fun mang

The B5 got the 2.8 too and is much cheaper than the B6, and the B6 got the 1.8T as well. Just stay away from the 3.0 in the B6, those have oiling issues.

notice how they can't hold the drift for longer than a few seconds
that's literally called powersliding

Oh, peachy then
I much prefer the front of the b5
Now, sedan own wagon?
You're so wrong you wrapped around and have stumbled upon the opposite of truth

Did you not watch the video? Holding an AWD drift is physically impossible.
Plus you need tons of power to go sideways like those guys do.
you can easily drift a 100hp rwd shitbox but for AWD ''drifting'' you need at least 250-300hp and loads of torque.
t. have ''drifted'' in my 230hp audi A4 Q 3.0 diesel

>B5
>luxobarge

I'm guessing you'd probably want the sedan for its lower weight, though a driftwagon would be pretty funny.

try to avoid heavier models as they burn through tyres and always avoid vehicles without manual as theyre key to drifting decently
rwd is better as it allows for more control over the cars angle and speed without the car trying to correct itself, but if youre going awd full throttle is the answer

Get off my thread, filthy busriders

sounds like you're the one who has never drifted a car.
Real life is not like need for speed where every car goes sideways easily, retardo.

>busrider for recommending various things over something but still give tips toward desired goal

Shoo shoo

>inb4 op understeers off a cliff trying to ''''drift''' a fucking Audi

see you on the other side of the guardrail, kyoichi

just buy a Civic its the best drift car

Miss me with that weeb shit

youtube.com/watch?v=aL6rhIQnZ0U

Hope you have money put aside for that.B6's are heavy, owned a FWD B5 A4 and it was a bit on the heavy side, but the AWD B6 A4 I have now is a boat of a car. That being said, goes sideways in snow like no tomorrow and is comfy as tits to drive.

I'd say go for a B5, but depending on how much you're willing to strip it, look into how to make the suspension last on one.

youre the one deluded enough to buy a fucking awd heavy as fuck audi to learn drifting that you'll probably get for 300 quid around the back of a drug dealers shanty shithole of a house

>y-you don't know anything!
>you're a busrider!!

you literally called me a fucking bus rider when i tried recommending you fucking spastic

He's not me, newfag

well you havent done anything to indicate other wise than act as retarded as op

Welcome to anonimous image boards get good or get fucked

You recommended a 6 figure haldex piece of trash, the Jap shitbox I mentioned in the op and the evo, which is a fucking unicorn

i hope you realize the GT-R cant even drift to begin with
also did i mention anywhere within my post
>get these shitboxes in pic related
or did i just explain various things

No one here has recommended any car that has Haldex, you mong

Away, away
You're not wanted or needed, suck it up and fuck off

>i cant respond to his argument as he has valid points
>i'll just tell him to fuck off

i think op might actually be an underage need for speed kiddy.
one can not simply be this retarded.

jesus chirst get a fucking bimmer or omega or sierra you fucking idiot
>hey i wanna try this hard thing
>I know I'll do the hard version of this hard thing only special snowflakes do
Youll end up with a 2 ton paperweight buying that audisteer after you fail one attempt and give up shortly afterwards.

I have 2 cars, a gokart, a bike and a minibike, contriboot or get the boot

we are
we're telling you how fucking stupid you are for thinking you can go straight into drifting with something that's more liable to lose tread within a minute because its 2 tons and understeer you off a cliff because its front wheels fucked you over when the ecu kicked the torque split to more than you can handle as youre little more than a rookie in drifting

You know nothing
>ECU
Torsen is 100% mechanical
>Straight into drifting
Not my first ball, milksop
>Off a cliff
I made peace with dying on the road the day I bought a motorcycle
>More than you can handle
More than you, nocar

You're wrong, ignorant and proud of it
You're offering nothing to this thread other than empty insults and parroted opinions
This would be my third car, and cost me 200€ at worst, I'd MAKE money if I insured it and crashed it tomorrow

Wow, retard, how many times do people have to tell you that A4 uses torsen.

>Captcha is talking about you

Nobike

Are you here for info or are you to close your ears and go la la la to people speaking sense?

i hope your a rich man, awd drifting in any car is going to be more expensive in almost every aspect versus a rwd.

I'm guessing double the cost for tires
I'm thinking of getting shitty thin econobox steelies, at least for the first sessions
Might even keep them longterm for winter tires

he's not just talking about the tyres.
for AWD you need twice the HP (more expensive to buy), twice the repairs if anything breaks.

The entire point of the thin wheels would be to slide easily

You are trying to drift a drivetrain DESIGNED for grip. Maybe you got a bit uppity while watching gymkhana or rally but those cars are pushing a metric assload of torque and have drivetrains and diffs made to handle it. Stick to rwd, or maybe the bus.

Man, are you dumb
It's torsen it was DESIGNED for rally
Y'know, the low grip Motorsport where they do nothing BUT slide

Why does it feel so right when you get an awd drift correct?

If you decide to build up an A4, make sure to get one of those 4:1 center diffs so you can go up to an 80/20 torque split instead of the stock maximum of 67/33.

You mean the aftermarket spiders?
Would it even matter under lock?
I want to feel this feel

Not sure if B5s had fully locking diffs

Good think it has torsen then
Why do I even try?
