/indie/ - Indie and Misc. Games General Anonymous

Last thread : High art edition

>What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, OneShot, Rimworld, Age of Decadence, VA-11 HALL-A, Subnautica, Machinarium, DashBored, Vampire of the Sands, Braid, Monolith, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, West Of Loathing, Gone Home, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles. Absorbed the /lite/ general some time ago and /jrpg/ is welcome.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in Veeky Forums), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

>I'm only shilling ironically guys
>buy my fucking game please haha funny right
>please

Is that a joke? Did someone seriously made a shitty game with stick figures?

and its on steam. how is it so easy to get stupid games on steam? can i go make a shitty rogue-like game and get it on steam?

get ye gone underage

Steam doesn't really do quality control. Which explains why that piece of shit sells.

>summer's in full force and I can't tell if it's bait or if none of these shoobies have ever played kingdom of loathing

Steam doesn't judge. It only sells.

That's why you can have shit like that stick figure game or grimoire selling there.

A whole generation ignorant of kingdom of loathing.

...nah, that's not surprising or hard to imagine.

I'm fully aware of kingdom of loathing, hence my comment here:
Doesn't mean I want a garbage game shilled in indie purely on blind nostalgia value on par with people arguing that Runescape is legitimately good.

Faggot.

Niko remembers the pancakes.

Don't think too hard about it. You can sell anything if you know how to sell it. Just appeal to the latent hipster and deceive people into believing it's good.

Oh Le Blanc is now in this region after doing so much business in Liberl in trails in the sky.
This quest was weird for sure though.
>commoner asks us to get him resin from a tree so he can use it as gem in his wedding ring
>we get it and come back
>some noble snaps it from our hands and just eats it

Can you murder him?

>Is that a joke? Did someone seriously made a shitty game with stick figures?
newgrounds.com/portal/view/314996

I don't think so. Chances I can fight him in this game too but he is not a character to die.

>blind nostalgia value
If you think that's why people enjoyed KoL you really must be underage.

If you enjoy KoL in your adult life then you really must be blinded by nostalgia.

Does anybody else play Rivals of Aether? It's a smash clone more focused on being sort of balanced with more aggressive play. They just announced a new character today. Most of the cast is similar in one way or another to at least one Smash character.
>fire guy who's basically PM Wolf with a fire gimmick
>smoke-based character who has a mechanic kind of similar to cloud's limit break and can create clones of himself to detonate
>weird orca thing that plays nothing like any smash characters
>bird that's basically Marth with aerial smashes and Kirby jumps (plus falcon kick and meta tornado)
>weird ferret thing that has some superficial similarities to sheik
>mewtwo/zelda combination thing with pikachu's recovery
>a bear that has bowser's down-b and can turn his hands into battle axes or hammers
>a beetle that doesn't play like any of the smash cast but has a few moves similar to DK's and is basically Ganon (in that he's a noobstomper)
>new character who just got announced is a frog with some similarities to greninja and sheik

Used to play Melee in tourneys so I considered picking it up to rekindle that flame but then I remembered the FGC is the most monstrously faggy community in existence and I could just play Melee or Project M or some other shit online if I really wanted.

I haven't really had any problems since I don't play at a tourney level. I did enter one of their online tourneys and get put against a top 5 player who pushed my shit in, though. I wish it had a bigger community to play against. A lot of people bought it in early access and forgot about it, I guess.

I'm only aware of that game because of Ori and Tower of Heaven, but smash games aren't my thing.

Then I wouldn't like that game.

You're wrong, but okay.

I'd rather play Stick RPG than this viral streamerbait shitfest

The game ONLY having furries turns me off and also the no grabs thing.
Yes the FGC right now is a shitshow that will accept any shit to shill more for capcom and sony.

You're wrong, but okay.

You mean Kingdom of Reddit

>finally found the first rapid reloader in the abandoned warehouse near rail crossing
Better late than never I guess.

Smash is Trash

How long until BattleOn makes their single player spinoffs

...

Anyone know if someone has mined the sprites from Pyre?

Ugh, Painkiller does that thing where you get trapped in monster arenas

>bolt in a knee joke
Styg, really?

Please tell me you're joking,

Rail Crossing is the reference central of Underrail.

Yeah. That's the only thing I don't like in the base game. And sadly, all the sequels did that.

ebin

Are you referring to little known super obscure indie cult classic Painkiller (2004)? No shit.

I like not having grabs. I've played since early access in 2015 and the furry thing still annoys me a bit. Especially the story mode.

>mfw I remember all these games I never finished
I wish I finished at least Project Nomad.

Never finished Witcher 2

Haha I like how the bird looks scared at the spikes.

t. doesn't have the nuts to complete snakebird

I haven't even played or bought it yet.

You heard me, bitch.

...

Cute.

For those who enjoyed old click interactive games such as King`s Quest and Monkey Island, Foxtail just uploaded a video of it's gameplay. I'm leaving a link for those interested.

foxtailgame.com/

What the fuck. Is it porno or something?

Wut.

It's more to heartwarming. Leah is cute through.

>furries

ehh
But I do like point and clicks, and this looks promising enough.

will there be nommy foxes?

>digitigrade

I don't know about this

When's the last time there's been an update?

The protagonist is clearly furbait, but everything else in the videos looked pretty innocent. I'm still skeptical though. Never let your guard down near furries.

>fox is scared of a rabbit

Ha!

What said. Every game I saw that had furries ended up being horrible.

Is there any indie R-Type-like game?
I want to shoot things up and see explosions.

blue revolver?

Ideally, something like that game you get by creating a GoG account, Tyrian 2000 or something like that. I'll check it out though, just in case.

Ah, he launched a video of the first minutes of gameplay today. Let me direct link it:

He seems to be working very hard through. Do give a look.

That is really pretty spriteart but when you say "old click interactive games" do you mean point and click adventures in general as they are now or the horrible unlogical puzzles ridden games that killed the genre for a while?

Search with the tag Bullethell. Cave dropped a lot of their previous 360 and mobile only shootemups on steam recently.

Well... it's hard to say at this point.

The author says he wanted to create something inspired by Legend of Kyrandia, King`s Quest and Monkey Island. From these I actually only played Monkey Island, but I really enjoyed it from what I remember

I could, but bullet hells usually lack explosions. And most often, it's about girls rather than ships. Source : I played a lot of touhou back in the days, even some Gundeadligne/Gundemonium and that other game with the vampires and the two kinds of bullets that look ripped from Ikaruga.

I like Singularity. Enemies don't feel like bullet sponges, and I really like that.

If his puzzles took inspiration from Kyrandia 1 we are doomed.

Ouch. Was it pretty bad?

I think King's Quest is one of the worst with real game overs and absurd logic and even randomness.

As far as I'm concerned it committed every sin in the book.

The very first "puzzle" was randomized and could only be solved through trial and error. And I'm not exaggerating here, there really is no way to solve it other than trial and error. Mess it up? You have to backtrack through all of the explorable maps and collect the items again, the respawn locations also randomized.

It had a large maze, and those are rarely fun. This one had a very simple pattern to navigate it, but take the wrong turn just once, and you die. Basically you move through copypasted caverns and pick up glowing berries that glow just long enough to reach the next map with a bush if you follow the pattern. And you have to backtrack A LOT.

Potion making puzzle? A milder form of trial and error. It's not randomized and gives some feedback if you are doing it wrong (nothing to figure out until you start randomly tossing in the potential ingredients), but you still have to backtrack through dozens of screens to collect them again.

See the pattern? It was abysmal. The usual Sierra deaths I don't mind, but this respawning randomized backtrack nonsense was one of the worst puzzle designs I had the misfortune to play.

Kyrandia 2 thankfully did away with it and was a very damn good game. When someone praises the Kyrandia series they are usually thinking about 2.

>a cute fox game

lol inventory screen almost unchanged

>suck just one dick and you're a dicksucker for life

wut

>If a man builds a thousand bridges and sucks one dick, they don't call him a bridge-builder... they call him a cocksucker.

I haven't played an adventure game outside of Famicom Detective 2

You should try Secret of Monkey Island. It's pretty good.

You fail your stygology class. See you next semester.

At least the paperdoll isn't a naked tranny neanderthal.

Have run into that crap in other genres...

Russians love fox chicks. They have for decades.

The whole country, furries.

Wasny there some old popular Soviet cartoon with a fox
