How does leveling magic using offensive spells work?
Do you simply get the allotted experience for that spell whenever you cast it assuming you do at least 1 damage? Does the amount of damage you do matter at all? Does it matter if I'm hitting a Level 1 rat or some Level 100+ demon as long as I can do at least 1 damage with the spell?

yes you get more XP for higher hits

I'm pretty sure it works like this. Each spell has a base xp amount for casting it, then you get xp proportional to each point of damage you deal with the cast. So doing 0 damage will still get you the base xp, while dealing 1 damage will give you base + I think it's 4 xp per damage. Someone correct me if I'm fagging it up

Not necessarily. Doing 10 damage to a goblin is going to give you the same xp as doing 10 damage to a bronze dragon, assuming all attacks hit.

It's easier to do 10 damage to the goblin because it has much less defensive stats, so you'll miss less on the goblin, and thus use fewer runes.

because you can hit more than 10 and plus goblins don't drop anything so it's wasted money, while you can try to make some money with slayer

Because killing dragons will get you dragon bones, which you can sell to offset the huge cost of using runes. Goblin drops are worthless.

Training magic via combat in OSRS is really fucking expensive due to rune costs. Unless you can make lots of money, it usually isn't worth it to use magic for combat. It sucks ass.

OSRS is completely separate from the old game, you start from nothing

There are two different games, Runescape 3 and Old School Runescape, everyone started fresh on OSRS. If you want your old account you must play RS3.

Go make a ton of cash in RS3 and do a transfer to OSRS, you can get your combat stats to 99 really easily if you have money.

Nope you need ardy 3 and rogues for that gp/hr. Ardy 2 only works within the ardy city limits, and without the rogues outfit it's bad gp/hr even with negligible fail rate.
