Burst bombs are just worse than other bombs, right? Being able to throw a bunch is essentially worthless when they're such trash.

Hero Mode except its a 1v7. Seven players or less can hop into the octarian mooks or mess around with the environment to try and stop the inkling. If the zapfish toy isn't rescued in a certain amount of time, the octos win.

Octolings VS Inklings, both have a zapfish, first one to have theirs captured loses.

What would be the objective in the base? Like a splatzone that if you cover you win?

I was thinking new maps since Splatoon maps aren't designed for races.

It really sucks. At least I know what causes it, though, and can just close the Switch app to fix it.

Ink Saver Main: Being able to shoot more is never a bad thing. Helps you remain active after using expensive subs.
Ink Saver Sub: Helps you remain active after using your subs. Overall a bit less useful than ISM.
Quick Respawn: nerfed to the ground. If you activate this effect frequently, you are not helping your team at all.
Quick Super Jump: No real reason to ever use it. Does not really save much time unless you spam 3 mains of it.
Object Shredder: Helps weak guns break ink armor faster and effects everything besides the enemy inklings themselfes (like walls, sponges), best for RM
Special Charge Up : OK for ink armor and missle spam since you can use them earlier and more frequent
Respawn Punisher: Effect is barely noticable even if it activates
Ninja Squid: OK on some weapons and maps, gets messed up by maps that are not flat.
Stealth Jump: nerfed to the ground. Enemies can still see your jump marker from quite some distance.
Ink Resist: OK on almost all weapons. Getting stuck and slowed down by ink is something you never want to happen to you. Kinda meh on chargers.
Run Speed Up: Got nerfed quite a bit and stacking it won't turn you into the Flash anymore
Swim Speed Up: not as strong as in Sploon 1 anymore but better than nothing
Special Saver: OK for ink armor spam
Special Power Up: effects are barely noticable on most specials and won't really change the flow of the match ever
Sup Power Up: mostly meh but throwing bombs further can help sometimes
Bomb Def: generally helpful since it also effects jetpack and missle splash damage
Cold-Blooded: rarely of use anymore since stuff like Echolocator spam is gone
Opening Gambit: mostly worthless except for chargers who really want to be the first at a sniper spot
Last-Ditch Effort: Unreliable since it won't activate in every match.

Do squids bleed?

Tenacity: Worse than in the first game since specials are less game changing. Might still be cool on chargers since they rarely die.
Comeback: Best for weapons with Ink Armor to quickly charge it again
Haunt: takes forever to activate now
Thermal Ink: Only good on some weapons. Has no use on chargers. Does not activate with splash damage from blasters.
Drop Roller: rarely of use since you have no i-frames during rolls
Ability doubler: splatfest meme

I just wanted to say that Respawn Punisher also reduces their special meter, almost cancelling out a Special Saver main. I'm still not convinced it's good but it's better than the description makes it sound.

I'd say Ink Recovery Up is in the ok tier too.
