You go to a magic school and all your classmates are cute villagers like the ones in the picture. There's a lot less than in AC but they're more unique to make up for it. If you become good enough friends they'll ask you out. You can even take them on dates.

You can fish, catch bugs, decorate your dorm, and do pretty much anything you can do in Animal Crossing. Only the DS version came out in english unfortunately. You should try it out while you're waiting for the next Animal Crossing game to come out.

Is there any way to get new fruit without connecting to someone else's town? All I got are oranges

You can grab extra fruit from the islands, when you unlock them. A lot of this game is time-gated unfortunately.

Go do some tour like the flower collecting one when you do, because while you're there you can shake trees and take the stuff home.

Eventually, you'll be able to visit the island by taking the boat at the dock in your town. There, you can go on various tours to play minigames. The main objective of these minigames is to collect coins to use in the island's gift shop, but you can also keep any flowers or fruit collected on the tours, as well.

Also, some villagers may give you fruit as a reward for doing them favors. And if you send an orange to your villagers in the mail, you may get another piece of fruit in return.

Yeah I'm used to being time gated because I've played previous titles, oh well

You can get tropical fruits from the island and tours.
If you want other village fruit, I think you need to connect with people.

I started with New Leaf, in late November 2015, and I've played it every day since then. Not sure how much time I've put into the game total, though. Where did you go to get that image of yours, with all the info?

Main menu for your 3DS has a log of every title you've played, for that day and for the whole history of your 3DS. I just took a picture of mine but I'm sure there must be a way to take a screenshot.

Okay, I found it. It's called "Activity Log", for anyone else wondering. I never knew that app existed. It has some nice background music, actually.
Anyway, according to the app, I've played New Leaf for just over 707 hours; average play time is 36 minutes; and my first time playing it was November 21, 2015. Just in case anyone wanted to know.

I only launched Ever Oasis twice so it looks pretty hardcore to see that my average play session was 17 hours.

Gonna go back and finish it eventually. I like it but I'm worried that I'll quickly run out of stuff to do. My standards for 3DS RPG games are quite high because of Rune Factory 4.

My sister and I used to play daily, city folk, just because it was on the Wii and we had it set up in the living room. Sister's friend broke the wii because she was one of those retards that would pull on controllers when playing games.
No more city folk.
In hindsight, I should've put in the gamecube version.
