/indie/ - Indie and Misc. Games General

Last thread : High art edition

>What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, OneShot, Rimworld, Age of Decadence, VA-11 HALL-A, Subnautica, Machinarium, DashBored, Vampire of the Sands, Braid, Monolith, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, West Of Loathing, Gone Home, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles. Absorbed the /lite/ general some time ago and /jrpg/ is welcome.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in Veeky Forums), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

Okay, seems like creating a new thread with 4chanX doesn't work that well.

The old thread died in 20 minutes, that's really fast.

>three threads
I pick this one

There are three threads? No wonder that one reached page 8 in ten minutes.

Nah, it's because some love live shitposter made a bunch of threads, killing a bunch of the slow generals

this is just a driveby post to let you guys know that some autist is pushing threads off the board by spamming new threads of his waifu game.

Dumb Nicoposters

It's not a matter of personal taste. This is the oldest thread (read: first made after the previous died), therefore this one stays. You made the right choice, user.

What, again? So that's why the Slabland general just died as well. Fucking hell.

there are currently 24 shit threads up. he's posting porn images now, too.

>baby with a red shirt
ITS NOT A SHIRT
ITS A FUCKING HAM

Please don't mix our favourite cat with that weeaboo trash.

I said Nico not Niko

I killed a dog in someone's apartment in controlled zone, will it turn people hostile?

Don't think so. You're a bad person though.

Should have had a cat.
I reloaded though, nothing interesting was there.

>Should have had a cat.
Sir, you're no longer welcome on /indie/.

Here's a free indie game boys, this is the free beta version

fag

Okay, but what is it?

Also, bump.

Pistols are early game psi

Is Hugo naked

I went no psi just pistols.
Another stupid question - if I sneaked through faceless to the shop, will I get opportunity to get their oddities with pickpocket?

I'm playing Rimworld.

>Robots show up and shoot up a wanderer and new colonist
>shatters her spine
>she can't move

Is it time to send her to greener worlds?

Thanks.

Yes.
Send her to the Countryside.

Or try to buy a spine to replace the broken one. I think you can buy robotic spines from advanced traders.

>if I sneaked through faceless to the shop, will I get opportunity to get their oddities with pickpocket?
Nope. I don't even think it is possible to pickpocket mask fragments since they are pretty much a part of their body.

Sadly if you want to be friends with Faceless, you will miss out on their oddites. One mask fragment can be found on an already dead Faceless in the Foundry but that's it.

I can be friend to them? Is it worth it?
I'm really starving for oddities, lvl 13 at buzzer's shop.

>and Misc.
Misc would be underrated old games?

Well that's not completely true- they don't HAVE to die by your hand... Of course this only goes for the regular Faceless oddity.

My Rimworld Colony finally prompted me to name it.
So what's going on with your colonies, everyone?

Yes. Only if they're actually underrated and not garbage like PNO3

I named mine "The Happy Fellows" from the settlement "Nigger Hangers".

I am very mature.

>I can be friend to them?

Something like that. Keeping your relationship at least neutral has a huge benefit, being on friendly terms has a less huge but still significant additional bonus.

>I can be friend to them? Is it worth it?
Yes to both. It pays off big time later on.

>I'm really starving for oddities, lvl 13 at buzzer's shop.
All you will lose is just 8 XP in the long run, it's not that bad. You should reach the level cap anyways.

>Well that's not completely true- they don't HAVE to die by your hand...
True, but there are not many situations where you can loot Faceless killed by other NPCs.

>Of course this only goes for the regular Faceless oddity.
You can get an Infusion Tank in DC if you manage to get one of the patrolling gaunts killed by rathounds. Happened to me by pure accident.

PNO3 isn't garbage, there simply isn't a human who's discovered how to play it correctly.

I've gotten crosshair at least twice. It only counts as restealthing if the enemy drops aggro.

The actual title is indie and obscure games.

I like Wild 9. It's a neat game.

I like Fitz the Fox.

stardew is nice so far
hopefully i will make a friend before multiplayer is added so ic an play with them

Give me ideas of stuff to make

a puddle of mud like the band puddle of mud except instead of a puddle of mud it's a puddle of cum

combine rubber cement and those stickyball tears that explode after a while only they can do it while not attached to anything
>MULTIBLERNS

why did jiucik do it
why did he surrender to cuckoldry?

Well, the tribe just established a settled base and was able to fend off a few waves of raiders.

Also we got a nudist loli so I don't know what the fuck is going to happen next.

Ehhhhhhhhh
it's supposed to be a bouncy ball

Gives off more of a ball of twine vibe.
Which actually wouldn't be bad either, but dunno how to implement it.
Connects between enemies like the tesla coil only instead of damage it shoots spider ick all along the line maybe?

bomb version

A puddle of cum, just like I asked for. Nice.

...

I like the bomb a lil more. Is nice.

I'm trying to think of an effect for a rubber ball bomb that isn't just very slightly different than another item

May it would shoot out one tear that bounces around at a very high speed. It feels like it might be too close to sad bombs then though and goes a little too close to rubber cement maybe though I guess bouncing stuff hasn't been related to bombs yet.

also I added a line where bouncy balls (the cheap ones at least) have where they were molded

>towing the van home after going to get the septic truck after getting absolutely assblasting drunk
>on the highway
>towing is going smooth except that the van is doing flips and shit
>carrying 10000 liters of shit in the truck though
>some fucking green technoshitter comes out of nowhere and rams me, causing me to launch and flip
>start up the van in some hope that I at least could tip it over, or maybe even pull it in such a way that a bus could flip it back
>almost get hit 4 times in a row while doing that
>trailer going at 80 hits me and grounds me into chunks of flesh and steel
JAMULAUTA

jumalauta*

Frittata

I like O.D.T.
You probably never heard of it.

anyone play NEO scavenger? whats it like? good game, fun? replayability?

Okay, what's the good zone with a lot of oddities at this point? Like depot A, where I've got 2.5 levels or so.

Tried it.
Pretty tough and a bit frustrating.
Can't say, it's one of these hit-or-miss game. It missed.
I suppose so, given how many builds you can have.

/Indie/ I need some help choosing. I just bought Caves of Qud and i have enough left in my wallet for something here.
>I tried an early version of Catacomb kids and liked it cause of all the simulation elements. The dev updates frequently too.
>Streets of Rogue sounds sounds great on paper with its sim elements and Ai's that actually fight/interact with each other, I saw NL play it and I hope it dosnt need multiplayer to be fun.
>Creepy Castle seems cute and I saw some fan art of some characters but I worry if Ill get bored of it do to its minigame gameplay (but i liked wario ware back then so who knows) and looking up anything on it seems spoiler-ish.
>Spaz 1 was something I tried a LONG while back in its early days but never got around to it again it seems interesting and a bit more involving than Starfarer cause I dont think I can get stranded in space in no fuel and no supply.

Which do I get? Which do you like?

The winter just ended so hay is coming in full force now. Were waiting for the honey to finish fermenting and the beeswax will start coming in soon.

I can only speak for SPAZ 1.
It's fun, if a little cryptic and repetitive, and it's also unbalanced. Missiles, laser and torpedoes are quite meh, while cannons are extremely powerfu, and sadly, most of the game is
>arrives in new system
>check who likes you more between the army and the civilian
>do missions or bribe them
>pass through the gate
>reach new system

Great little roguelike. Hard to call it frustrating, was probably excepting something other than a RL.

It has really nice inventory system and rather unique 1D combat. It's fun but not the most replayable RL. The gameplay mechanics don't have much depth to them (compared to some proper RLs) and the story is linear aside from few skill-based scenes.

So it didnt change much. Thats a shame. Though I do wish I got to play around more with the "Infection" mechanics.

Half-way though the game, it switches from that formula to a
>go to new system
>liberate it with firepower
>give it ressources to make it grow and create a task force
Still very repetitive. The game has some good idea, but it relies too much on its mechanisms and fails to stay interesting.

hows Don't Starve?

It's really traitorous. It looks cute and shieeet, even the spiders are kinda adorable, but you WILL die before even figuring out what to do or how to cook food.

Sux. Well thats Spaz 1 from the list

It's for the best.

>that stupid lotr captcha on the underrail forum

>not liking LotR
Fuck off.

how many hours did you get out of it? did you finish the game, if there is such a thing in the game?

Don't pay attention to the shill. He obviously never played the game.

i think that game was perfectly balanced before the reign of giants DLC, which made summer dangerous. before, you had just enough time to setup a base and get sustainable food for winter if you did things right.
now they added an extra layer of difficulty for no reason. you could freeze to death in the winter, and with the DLC, you can now overheat in the summer. it gives you even less time to get yourself situated and make a base with food since now almost every season is very dangerous

Oh you cute summer child. It's even worse than that, now every season has its own drawbacks, even Spring.
>Spring
>constantly raining, which drains your sanity, make food spoil faster, and hinders your attempt at making fires
>Summer
>drought and overheating where stuff can catch on fire randomly
>Autumn
>longest evening, pretty much the only friendly season
>Winter
>YOU KNOW NOTHING, JON SNOW

oh what the fuck, thats stupid. i loved that game before the first DLC. is the base game still playable, or are all these updates in for good?

You can turn the Reign of Giants off when you make a new world, don't worry. Same for Shipwrecked, you can turn it off and have a vanilla world if you want.

Not sure I like the seasons to be honest. Sure, they add to the game, but I liked how the vanilla world was a bit alien.

oh thats good to hear. yeah, vanilla had a lot of content on its own. i never got to finish exploring, i really wanted to get into those caves. but when the DLC came out, i was super excited and went to try it. started a new world and well, saw how stupid it was and have not played it since.
might try out a new world now that i know i can play the original game again without any stupid dlcs

I don't record my gaming hours. Yeah, I've finished it, it has a linear plot with a discrete end point. The end is probably the lowest point of the game though, the last area is bullshit.

it's not really stupid, it's just intended to raise the difficulty. I guess devs got offended by people posting their characters surviving to day 543, so instead of following a pattern of
>prepare during autumn for the winter
>AAAAAAH WINTER

They changed it so that every season has its own dangers, so it's less about preparing for Winter while slowly upgrading your base and equipment and more about learning every season's quirk and trying to face the Giants.
Depending from your playstyle, you may prefer it, or no.

well i get that it was meant to make it harder, but how are you supossed to prepare when every season is dangerous? i dunno i guess im one of the guys who prefers the old playstyle.
you did not play it on steam? your hours should be recorded automatically

Simple. Some seasons (Spring, Autumn) are less dangerous than others. As soon as Spring starts, you make a straw hat to keep yourself dry, you keep your food as dry as possible so that it doesn't rot, and you avoid fighting with slippery items. During Autumn, gameplay is pretty vanilla. Summer might be the worse, since you're supposed to use endothermic fire that require some advanced stuff. Or you can sleep through the day.

:')

Niko is very cute. I can't wait for the sequel.

Friendly reminder that "it's early access" is NOT a valid defense when a game is objectively trash.

>inb4 drones attack the reviewer personally instead of answering his valid complains

You're probably going to want a bigger gun.

A friend and I are looking forward to MP, you can join us.

Dunno, the game is grindy trash with annoying RNG but I like how the heroes break down, cry and beg to not be sent to overleveled dungeons.

It's good. The DLCs add a huge amount stuff to do once you hit a "sustainable" lifestyle.

Oxygen Not Included is by the same people and I'm enjoying it too.

Bigger is not always mean better, I can get more shots and damage with smaller caliber guns. With expertise feat for each shot especially.

Eh, fair. I'm just thinking about burst fire. I might also be mixing up Underrail with Wasteland 2, since it's been about a year.

all those dead children

>Oxygen Not Included
What's this about? It sounds like Subnautica, with more youtube.com/watch?v=9Yw5jkAHgME

I found it a fun game user. I like the atmosphere, the combat and the music. The only thing I don't like much is the inventory, but the game would be too easy if it was bigger.

The novice dungeons are pretty easy, as long as you aren't careless. The veteran and champion RNG can be dealt with the right build.

Is there a way to escape from being trapped in net? These AI fuckers abuse it and I feel like a prey.

One(1) Shot

Clones stuck in an asteroid, facing limited oxygen and food supplies as well as panic attacks. You can build generators and algae farms, as well as bathrooms with piping and massage tables. Goal is to keep them alive. It's like an ant farm/Sim City game mixed with a strange amount of realism - like different piping material having different heat conductivity.

It's pretty cute and surprisingly addictive. Big update comes out in a week or so, introducing diseases and other stuff. Not completely sure on the details.

There's a lot of oddites to be found in Core City and Foundry.

I'm pretty sure my solution was stealth -> annihilation. I might pick it up again this weekend.
