There are two main ways to limit scope, and I think the best way to handle that sort of thing would be to just finish the core/necessary scenes while still leaving the room there for anyone else to write the rest if they ever have a mind for it. In contrast to excising anything outright, especially structurally.
That said, I don't think anyone would be too impatient for her at this point.
