Doesn't seem like it. The true ending only has Sonic going super, Knuckles and Tails don't have different endings so the canon events seem to ignore their super forms.

Why? Generations established that Classic Sonic is just a younger Modern Sonic from the past. Why is Iizuka trying to make it far more complicated than it needs to be? We don't need different universes/continuities when one worked just fine.

His only contributions left to make to the series are negative ones, and unfortunately there's not really any way to get him to fuck off so we're stuck with whatever stupid shit he does to ruin the franchise before he retires / dies.

Still super knuckles is canon since it took place after sonic's campaign in S3K.

They did. Only Hyper forms really got special endings, getting all the Chaos Emeralds just gave you a good ending

And probably so they can justify making a bunch of new Classic games that contradict Adventure continuity-onward without having to come up with loopholes and inane bullshit to explain why >this didn't happen before Adventure. When your continuity starts to span over 20 years, a reboot/spin off becomes necessary

I think the whole idea is that there's two dimensions: One where 1-3K happened & the series became the Modern side we see today, and another being one where 1-3K happened, but the series never became Modern Sonic.

Welcome to anything. Creative directors don't actually care about being creative, they care about selling and making brands look good. A reboot of the 'classic' series sounds really good, especially when the last game sold hot cakes on that basis.

The upside with classic having its own timeline is that scrapped characters like the Hooligans and Mighty pop up in newer game now.
