Harley's have a tight V angle and a single pin crank. The first piston fires, the second one fires after a 315 degree rotation, followed by the first firing again after 405 degrees. I believe the overlapping waves in the unequal firing creates infrasound.

If your entire ignition system is new, it's either your cylinder head or your fuel injection system, lad.

its a carbureted engine, not fuel injection

It is fuel injected, otherwise it wouldnt work, just not eletronically injected.

Anyways, it was just a more convoluted way to say that something is wrong with your carb.

Well, i'm not an expert on carburators, but if it's the problem, it's either because there is too much air or too much fuel going in at once. If it were the latter, it would probably result in a lot of black smoke before dying, so i'd guess it would be the former. Is the fuel line between the tank and the carb working properly?

I really wanted the 750gs, but the fact that they ship it with street tires instead of dual-sport is a clear statement by BMW about the useability of said model. So yeah, the 850 gs is pretty good.
