Its to be expected that trucks in that kind of setting will the first to be automated. Slow moving, in a closed fixed course that is constantly maintained and monitored for issues with minimal traffic.

Also the drivers of those minehaul trucks in the tar sands mines are/were bringing in around 130k+ a year, plus benefits, flights in and out and being put up in camp during their work shift.

Anyone have experience with food grade tanking, either liquid or bulk. I want to move to a field where I'm not wasting so much time getting loaded and unloaded, dealing with slow ass forklift jockeys and such. I had thought tankers loaded and unloaded themselves but apparently some/most/all? shippers still fill the tank up, I've seen some dairy guys in like half a mile long lines getting loaded one by one but what I am curious about is what the standard day is like. I'm also looking into hoppers, dumps, and cars, but tanker sounds the most appealing of the lot.

Also what's your typical line haul and typical non-driving time per week? For reference, on reefer, my trips are regularly over 1500 miles, but I pay for it by long detention times. I might drive 1200 miles in 2 days, but then I only get like 1 or 2 hundred the third day.

Me? I just log as I go, I don't try to cheat. If I'm filling up w fuel or checking in w a customer or doing a safety check, I log on duty. I probably spend more time on duty not driving because I'm a regional driver, my runs aren't as long so I spend more time being loaded and unloaded.
