It depends on the versions. Most of them have Krishna monologue about how fucking incredible Karna is though, something about all the gods in heaven not being able to match him in combat. If anyone ever tried to pass off one version of the Mahabharata as the "right" one they're talking out their ass, whether it's a Karnafag saying he's the best or an Arjunafag saying he's not even close or whatever.

Also remember that powerlevels are inconsistent even in that. In the versions where Karna isn't an unstoppable monster and loses a couple times he's still got his whole duel with Arjuna and the armor thing so they really weren't trying to keep consistency, just hyping up whoever it was they wanted to be hyped up at the time. Arguing powerlevels in the Mahabharata itself is colossally fucking stupid.

What's more important is that when Yudhishthira sends his brothers out on the Rajasuya, Bhima goes in the same direction as Karna's land and comes back with resounding successes. Not exactly clear-cut, but it does make one think.
Bhima is unquestionably weaker than Arjuna. Bhishma was roughly Arjuna's equal.

He was one of those famous military commanders who never lost a single battle and was a benevolent leader, the type to stick his neck out for his men. Ramesses II was a great pharaoh but Thutmose III accomplished at least as much as him and made more socioeconomic progress as well.
Also historians believe Thutmose was likely the pharaoh in power during Exodus, not Ramesses.

fiction tends to be really inconsistent in almost everything it does because of the nature behind it being well, fictional. There's usually 80 different retellings of a popular story, the Author does one thing then does other that directly contradicts it for convenience, etc etc.
I usually just round that down to "Authors privilege" and hope I don't have to explain it.

In the novel, the Count was basically a super genius who could do literally everything (except foresee his plan going overboard). He could disguise as multiple people, had crazy knowledge of shit like poisons, and was skilled in nearly everything he tried.

It's the only reason I find his wank in GO acceptable. He's wanked to hell in the novel itself, so it's only natural he'd be wanked to hell again when the scales raise higher.
