5expensive. Knight Rider could've driven a blinged out Corvette, but they went for the everyman Firebird instead.

Well the guy is supposed to be a cop or something. People forget the firebird that they turned into KITT was Michael's own car to begin with.
Though the real reason was they only went with the firebird because it looked really futuristic because Pontiac.
Also, The third gen firebird was brand spankin' new, while the Corvette C3 was starting to show it's age, and the C4 hadn't come out yet.
