I'm playing through the PS2 version of P4, first time playing the game, on expert mode. I'm enjoying it well enough, but I cannot stand your character's shitty, terrible melee attack in the dungeon sections. I've got this gigantic sword but can't seem to hit an enemy one foot in front of my face sometimes.

I remember disliking this when I played P3 several years ago as well, but not as much as it's bothering me here.

The game says I'm nearing the end of Okumura's space palace. I bought an extra SP adhesive 3, but don't know how to feel about Haru yet. Should I keep using her and put the adhesive on her, or put it on Makoto?

OSK is the highest single-target Gun skill; for Okumura you want multi-targets.

Ryuji is objectively better as a physical DPS, though you'll have to wait for Charge. Best party is Ann/Haru (magic vs physical), Ryuji and Makoto ( non-useless healbot)

You want a variety of elemental spells (including psi) for the boss.
If you make sure you got this covered, there really isn't a need to bring any member in particular.
I advice crafting some elemental kits though.

Charge!Haru deals more with OSK, and magic resist is more common than gun, it's just a matter of how lucky you get with Futaba.

In the meantime I'll stick to the character who can reliably buff her attacks.

It's not about crits, Charged OSK is just that fucking op.

OSK, Heat Riser, Karns. Haru is more utility for just slightly less average damage. Only thing Ann gets is multi-target, which isn't super necessary.

but having a charged Haru is purely reliant on rng. Like said, it's far superior to have a consistent damage dealer like Ann then taking chances with Haru and Futaba

Heat Riser and barriers are nice, but I feel once you get Debilitae, you're better off just debuffing the enemy and powering through his attacks.

I prefer Haru over Ann too because of her physical abilities. Ann is a better choice for bosses though,especially when she gets charge later on.

Ryuji is consistently the best party member to have when it comes to damaging though. I'd suggest always using him, no matter what your opinion of him is.

Yusuke was always a must-have party member for me thanks to Tempest Slash and his overall physical DMG rates.
