Honestly it'd do them a lot of good. Just look at the most recent notes, there's not a single one of them that actually further the Underfell plot, beyond expanding some of the earlier content. If they just made it a multiverse skeleton game, maybe even the feature bloat would be less annoying.

Something that struck me is that this could very easily be changed not to use Chara's name at all without anything becoming less natural. I like it when stories do that. I feel like it keeps Chara more grounded in the game, where that particular name is only half-canonical.
Have you considered that? It's different if you plan to do more with Chara in later chapters, of course, but if this is all of it then I think it fits the rest of the scene better to never make it that explicit.

probably works best if Chara isn't relevant and is just a sidenote, otherwise it gets weird if they'd get referred to by other people as 'that person', it'd sound like a badly translated anime script

In this case it's a short scene that's about Chara, but that doesn't feature Chara (it's post-pacifist without weird savery shenanigans). Chara's name is only used once, at the end of the scene. Removing it wouldn't make the language weirder.

I'm finished with Chara. You're right that I was deliberately withholding the name mainly because talking about a dead family member is hard. That scene was Asgore making his peace over them, in a sense. Though I could tweak it to keep their name out of it, and match the fact that like in the original version Asriel gets the same treatment, though I've made the reasoning for that explicit. Until the end, and even then it's mispronounced
