I ended up never actually using it because it was a one-use item and I couldn't decide which horse to use it on. I guess if the horse died, you'd have to start a new game to get a new set of horse armour.

I killed them all, and Im still under siege, is there a dfhack command to fix this or to show hidden unit? I cant see any. I tried showcurse but it just showed my vampire mayor and the caged zombies.

It is, but it's not like these are actually used for much. The simulation of body parts aren't hooked up to a whole lot of things right now. Well, they are compared to other games of course, but you could still argue that it's more detailed than the game needs right now. Especially for vermin.
