The whole point of the 996 was that it was a completely new car from the ground up
It changed everything about the 911 and people hated it, so they went back to what was proven to work with the 997

people didn't just hate it because it was different. It was the first watercooled 911 and was notorious for having shit tons of issues with the engine. Combine that with the horrendous front headlights and you get two of the main reasons why they flopped.

The only problem is all the dead space between where the license plate goes and the middle tail light bar
