Haldex isn't worth shit anyway

Launch it hard enough, the tranny'll blow.

Yes, with two less wheels being driven.

You're thinking of the 5 speed, STi 6 speeds are bulletproof.

The RS and Type R are better in every way so yeah

That is one of the few cars that look more childish than an STI with the wing.

I have yet to see a new Type R on the street, do they even exist?

Keyword being "new."

The STI has been out for virtually a decade unchanged.

why are you fucks shitting on a car you can afford to shill a car that is overpriced and therefore way out of your budgets

I see new model STIs almost everyday and I'v never seen a new model Type R.

It's almost become rare to see a regular WRX these days.

What?

(((and that's a good thing)))

Let me ask you if there are also a ton of vape stores around you as well?

with a racing suit and helmet, you TOO can be a professional racing driver!

Everyone that i'v seen has closed down.
Maybe all the WRX drivers will suffocate now.

In the US at least the WRX and the WRX STi are two different models. Or at least they were for a long time. So seeing an actual STi was a bit rare. Usually it would be a regular WRX with a loud exhaust or a badge or a big dopey hood scoop swap at best.

can the Subaru engineers make a new STi? it's had the same specs for over a decade now.

FA2(4?) STi when

>old shit ass engine from 2004
>weighs 250lbs more
>less than 2 seconds slower out of the box

Good God, how shit is the Type R?

Out of curiosity, what would you change? It's a pretty solid package as it is.

Same time they give the toyobaru a 2.4 or 2.5L N/A version :D
(oh right they're never going to do that)

FA25. The upgrade in the WRX 2 liter from the EJ20 to the FS20 was a nice 50-ish hp bump for the little boxer. I'd love the same thing for the 2.5 liter. The EJ257 isn't a bad motor at all, but it's a decade old engine. That said, I am still super tempted by and love the new STI's.

Seems like a pretty fair request. It seems silly to not continue the progression of the FA line, probably including a 6-cylinder version for high-end outbacks and such.

>400hp twin turbo H4
Or
>400hp single H6

I have heard that the wrx is a better overall car. Some people say the hp bump is negligible

The Focus RS really should have been (and may still be) a nice kick in the pants for Subaru. I still think the worst thing to happen to them was the end of the EVO. Killed the competition that produced some amazing cars from both sides.

Also pipe dream, but twin turbo 6cyl STI would make me cream myself.

The WRX would be the perfect car if Subaru offered a two door version.

>a fucking sponge
b e g o n e t h o t

Look up Andy Forrest if you don't know him.

This, microfiber is the only thing allowed to touch my paint

She also didn't even spray off the dirt from the car before using the sponge. So now she's scrubbing bits of gravel against the paint.

In the 2010-14 run of WRX they threw in the EJ255 which was a 2.5 making around the same horse as the new smaller FA motor. So not MUCH of a difference to the end user between the 2010 runs and the 2015 runs

Overall, I'd agree that the current WRX is a much better deal than the STI and there are guys that are pushing those FA20's to respectable levels. But I'm still picking the STI after I pay off my house.

Why did OP ask if it could be stopped if its just a mediocre piece of shit not worth anyone's time without muh mawds?

>scrubbing soap on a car without even washing it off first.

ahahah sasuga, subiecucks

If type r is shit then what does that make the wrx sti then? It just got BTFO on the track and I bet it can't compete on the bugerring meme track either also they weigh the same and have similar power only thing the sti has is the awd and better 0-60

stupid B I T C H is going to ruin the paintjob on that shitty car

wait I don't care.

>2015 STi
>shitty
Post your shitbox then, there's no way it's better than that.

>better 0-60
Fucking barely too. It's only a smidge faster thanks to the better launch but from a roll it's the same. Civic is stupid fast for a FWD car.

>4 cylinder 4 door economy car
>omg amazing

lol your poorfag is showing, keep on LARPing busrider

>$40k
>poorfag

What I dislike about the new STI is that it doesn't have any exterior personality.

It just looks....bland and generic. If it didn't have the huge wing on the back, you'd never even pick it out of a crowd of cars in a parking lot

I've never been a huge fanboy of the WRX in my life, but I can at least say that had a style all their own. These new ones just look "Generic 4 door sedan, model B" levels bland

Guess we just stopped it, boys...

Longpost Guy! :D

Yeah I agree on the looks. They kind of lost the spirit this time around.

The Type R weighs more? Shouldn't it be lighter considering it has a smaller engine and no AWD system?

>tfw the 2018 camry has more horsepower than the 2018 wrx

My issue with that statement is that they've always looked like their ***contemporary*** counterparts. Compare this 1999 STi and 1999 Corolla. Take off the hood scoops and vents and you have the Corolla.

Nah, even if you take off the scoops the basic shape is just wonky enough to make you think
>wait wtf
>that's not right
out of the corner of your eye

Idk, thats a bit of a stretch here.

The geo/chevy prizm of that same era didnt have a sway bar on the base model. Shit was dangerous,

It can by its big ass brembos

Even the 13mm on the Impreza wagon of the era was dangerous. That shit had such a low resonant frequency that if you ever had to swerve on the highway you'd think everything was fine and then like a half second later it'd roll back over and all of a sudden you're fishtailing.

What is this

Step aside boys, my subie killer is coming through

a camry that has almost as much HP as an STi

It was hilarious. My prizm back then was the LSi trim so I had one; didnt do shit.

I am really sorry you bought that car, Ford better cover your replacement head gaskets til 100k.

B-but it doesn't, so its ok

I hear that VW is better all around. So I guess it got stopped already.

Ford already did a recall for the headgaskets. I also baby my car and don't really daily it since I either take the company bus or ride my motorcycle to work.
Once it's out of warranty though, I'm gonna tune it till the engine blows

Is right

I suggest:
both look at pic related. You can literally swap impreza panels on to the camry of that generation.

toyotanation.com/forum/130-corolla-7th-generation-1993-1997/323783-subaru-impreza-bumpers-ae101-2.html

...

Corolla*

Camry is a stop light warrior.

And weighs 200 pounds more, is auto only, doesn't have sport suspension, comes with no season tires, doesn't send power to the rear wheels, and is fugly

Maybe I'm just more attuned to subtleties. The Corolla has sloppy boxmobile lines. The Subaru angles in at the top and rear, hangs way over the front where it doesn't belong, etc.

And the bumper alone is so ostentatious that it just hammers the point home: you can't sell an appliance car that catches your eye that way.

wow derp i did it both in the picture and post. thank you for the correction.

Maybe because they're competitors in the same size and price bracket designed by companies from the same country at around the same time?

Also asians have a hard time with creativity. I believe it was around then that you'd look at a Honda and think
>huh
>well from this angle it's obviously a BMW

Turbo H6

Ill tell you right now its not happening the sti is getting the 2.4 turbo motor thats going in the ascent for 2019

>yfw the Camry is not only faster 0-60 than a Lexus IS 350 but also better at braking and roadholding

>Literally swap the bumper
>Just cut it or force it to fit with fasteners and force
I wouldn't consider it a direct fit myself.

the japs are very creative on their own. look at their porn. put them in the west and they get into and create counterculture. basically anyone with intelligence also has creativity. it's how the human mind is set up.

but put them together and they start asking questions. smart questions.
>well can you prove that your idea is a good one?
>we're risking money/social status here
>how about you put your shit on the backburner for now until you can prove it's worth the risk?
>there are older ideas that have been proven well enough. why don't we use those? if we execute them well, it will still be a good product.
you see, the japanese are excessively sane. don't believe the /pol/ memes that they're not creative. those are just neckbeards trying to claim that their diverse european heritage represents the apex of humanity not just culturally, but genetically, so they inherited master race genes. it's actually culture here. give a white man raised in germany a bottle of gunpowder and he will try to show everyone something new. give a white man raised in japan a bottle of gunpowder and he will think of something new, but decide people wouldn't be interested, or that it might be a bad idea to introduce his new use for gunpowder in the long term.

yep, when they stopped making a hatchback it got stopped. any other questions

>when porn is apex creativity
Nah, you're absolutely correct and it's very refreshing for that part of the world to be coming up with things that are clearly outside the boundaries of my part of the world. But the very collectivist, calculating mindset is what makes it tend to come off as copy-cat from a cultural perspective.

t. work with a lot of Asians, a few of which have that "wild west" type mentality that feels very Murican.

Nah porn is where people can show how creative they actually are. There is nothing to lose by being outrageous. All judgement is off the table because it's already rock bottom. Your imagination is the only limit. Porn production lets the tiger out of the cage. Porn production is where people bare their souls. Hell, in porn, novelty is a good thing, not a risk, because porn addicts need it to keep the dopamine rush going.

Unsurprisingly, all the best crazy porn in the world comes from two "races". The Japanese with their hentai/monstergirl traditions, and the Germanics with their furfaggotry. Personally, my preference leans toward macro/micro, vore, and scientific cruelty, themes done better in the germanic white porn culture. But Japan has some pretty nifty shit too.

Porn is to close to base desires and fetishes. While sex might be the art to which none other can compare, I don't know that I'd call it the heights of mass-distribution creative expression. Trying to push the button the right way to get the next dopamine dose is no more impressive than designing a car to get a money dose.

I live in Northern California (I want to leave so bad) and I've seen at least 3 maybe 4. One black, one white out of town towards Marin county, and at least one red, maybe 2. The local Honda dealer had one sitting on the lot so I asked and it belongs to the owner of the dealership itself and I see it around town every now and then. Either he gets around a lot or there's at least one other person with a Red Type R. If I had the money I'm preferential to the Miata but it does look damn cool, I can dig the racer boy hyper exterior.

The fact that it is so simple and private is what makes it so free. Anything else is guaranteed to be more constrained, and more importantly, more public.

Nobody who makes porn is unhappy with themselves. It's the purest form of self expression.

>Nobody who makes porn is unhappy with themselves
Uhhhhh. Maybe we can agree that not everybody who makes porn is unhappy. As you say, there's a lot of self-expression.

If a fat, balding, 40 year old swedish-canadian lesbian can feel some bit of happiness when she draws kangaroos using miniature dragons as condoms then I have no doubts about the power of making porn.

You do realize this is a board about cars and a thread about the STi I hope. At some point we all have to confront the hard cold face of reality and discuss things like engines and gears and stuff.

I still can't believe how bland they made it look compared to the concept.

I agree friend. I have an 02 wrx and my friend bought a 16 sti, it just looks so pedestrian. Whereas you can pick old wrx/sti's out easily.

I thought it was the other kind of STI. Honest.

Drivers were complaining about being pulled over too often

Now you just rebadge it as a subaru legacy and enjoy your low insurance rates

You can be stealthy without being ugly. See: the RS. The STI is aggressively boring.

Phoenix here, I saw one a few months ago. It had a veteran license plate that read "R8DR". I thought it was cool.

What else would we talk about?

The STI has the better running gear. For a daily driver the FA is a better motor(better mpgs, twin scroll turbo spools faster, can make decent power on stock internals).

For the extra $10k you can throw front and rear LSDs into the WRX and probably have some left over for an exhaust + tune.

Nah a 2 door version of the current style would look wonky

there's at least 2 running around where i live

>focus RS blows up head gasket and / or falls off the road
>VW is jewish
>evo goes fast then explodes turbo and / or explodes tranny
>subie melts cos muh uneven headers

Aww yeah come and get your brand new WRX with a CVT!

>focus RS blows up head gasket and / or falls off the road
This only affected a small batch, the recall has been issued, and all dealers can check any that were potentially affected for free. There's literally no reason to not buy an RS.

almost looks like an rsx in the thumb

Nope sorry. If we get to make fun of Subaru forever due to a few head gaskets, now it's Ferd's turn.

i thought they went equal length now. or are vapers getting after market unequal length for dat burble.

I know Subaru fucked it up
