Assuming you have enough fuel
What is the longest period of time a human being could possibly drive?
Before a fiery demise.
20 hours?
30 hours?
Longest drive time

Well a Peugeot 406 did 2300km+ on a single tank in 36hrs, so I'd say at least that.
Did you find what you were driving for?
I’ve done 1200 miles stopping once for fuel and another time for food. Little over 20 hours.
Anything over 14-16 hours before resting is dangerous. Fighter pilots have 16 hour max and they use amphetamines to do it.
Pic not related. But it ya mine. I’m a truck driver and my legal max is 11 hours before needing rest.
Longest I've ever driven in a day was 13 hours but it was just almost nonstop driving.
Once i drove about 5 hours, stood all day in line in the sun, attended a 3hr concert, then drove the 5 hours back. Awake about 28 hours, and man that return trip was awful.
I did a 14 hour trip from Phoenix to Reno once.
Only stop was Hoover Dam. Personally I like to stop every two to three hours just to walk around and stretch a bit.
Kid had to of been popping adderal or glass bbq. Did his buddy hold his piss bottle?
I drive 3,500/week tho
I did 18 hours hunched over a sport bike until I crashed 20min from my destination.
Was going to lose my virginity.
Long distance truck driving sounds so comfy.
Damn, I feel for you
greentext the full story
very please
I hate having to drive more than like 30 minutes.
16 hours in a fighter must be insane
have you?
>miles
it is until it isnt.
i have a ucle who did long distance truck driving, he took me along on some of his longest trips during the summer "for fun"
Sure, we had some fun, but for me as a kid it was most of the time really fucking boring in that cabin.
My uncle is retired now, he recieved a award from the company he worked for, he had the least amount of acidents ever in the company and worked there the longest of al the drivers.
>in before my uncle molested me.
>in before my uncle
bit late for that, isn't it?
I did portland or to dallas tx in 44 hrs. 26hrs, slept for 4hrs, then another 14.
I should have seen that one coming.
>be 25yo virgin
>add some Veeky Forums e-celeb 15yo cosplayer to Skype and she starts flirting with me
>she links me some porn, every time the girl is creampied multiple times. "Can we do this?"
>she's crying one day during summer, says she's lonely
>she turns 16, tell her I'll go visit now that I won't get raped by Tyrell in jail
>crash from exhaustion at highway speed, gear and rolling saved my ass but break both hands and still patches of road rash all over, go to hospital in her town and get popsicle sticked fingers for $4000
>Get to hotel, summon her over by cab
>Kiss, cuddle, fool around and hold hands, 69 a bit, it's painful
>get picked up by brother a couple hours later because my motorcycle is destroyed in another country and has a $950 towing bill, and my passport was destroyed
>Go again a few months later
>Fuck her raw for 4 days straight over and over again ("allergic to latex").
>she tells the other 4channer she promised her virginity to I fucked her
>Get cucked a month later by the other 4channer because I ran out of money because the vehicle loss and medical bills and broken hands
>the motorcycle was bought with 1000 bitcoins sold at $5
Oh, and I also got arrested when I visited the second time and they basically inspected her vagina for my semen
endurance drivers used to go a full 24 hours non stop before that was banned
Some guy raced the Baja 1000 solo on a motorcycle and came in 6th. 43 hours of racing through on a desert exposed to the elements has got to be rough. He obviously had to stop to refuell and stuff though.
Some other guy went coast-to-coast across the US on a motorcycle without stopping or putting a foot down at all.
Mouse McCoy finished in 17 hours and change, not 43, and he was completely delirious at the time, dude could hardly talk and he was smashing dirt whoops at 100 mph in the dark.
oh shit that's the one I was trying to think of but when I did a quick search to try to find the time this is the one I came across dirtbikerider.com
I drove from New Mexico to Virginia Beach in pic related, non stop. I think it was like 1200 miles, and it took me 24 hours of non-stop driving. It's hard to call without googling it. Shit got weird after 20 hours, then I got pulled over like 50 miles from my house. You could probably drive 30-40 hours nonstop. Would it be safe? Heavens no.
How the fuck was any of this arranged on Veeky Forums?
In a month I need to do about 850 miles in a '99 Integra. Will probs take 13 -14 hours , longest I've ever done was about 9 hours before
Will i survive?
That's the pro Moto Ironman class, I'm assuming they take breaks or something because that's more than double the time of the top bike riders.
he said he added her on skype
was it worth it?
You'll be fine. I've done 9+ hour trips dozens of times. Who knows, you might enjoy it? I love those long haul drives.
It was in the way that it woke me from my slumber. I've always had decent looks (tall white fit male) but no confidence with women.
Fucking her did what I thought it always would - removed me from NEETdom and massively boosted my confidence.
Also taught me women like sex more than men and that they're horrible people compared to men.
I hope so. Will have another 2000 miles to do after that though. Trying to do it all in 5 days
The joke or your uncle?
You'll be fine my man. You can drive across the country solo in like 2-3 days if you put your mind to it.
That's the team record with driver changes.
The solo record, last time I checked, was 32 hours and change.
How practical is it to recline the drivers seat and sleep in your car if you're driving from coast to coast?
Well I drove from Iowa to Florida a couple years ago and due to a bunch of accidents and road closures it took me 24 hours of nearly nonstop driving to get there.
Depends on how well prepared you are to sit in a car without the heater on if it's cold out. I've done it a few times now, it's never fun but it beats dying because you fell asleep at the wheel.
Bring something to cover up your windows with, it's incredibly uncomfortable trying to sleep in a car like that when anyone can walk by, look in, and and see you in it. Maybe that ones just me, but either way 24 hour Walmarts are your friend, don't fall for the truck stop/ rest stop meme.
I've driven 1100-1200 miles in one go in a 1.2 Skoda hatchback, would never do that distance again without at least taking a few hours for a nap.
The Baja 1000 has got to be pretty brutal. Almost nobody can do it solo.
Depends on the car. I did it quite a lot in my old Chevy Lumina because it had big, over-stuffed velour seats and lots of front leg room so I could stretch out pretty easily and it was like sleeping in a comfy recliner. I have a 15° sleeping bag as well so I didn't have to worry about the cold.
I haven't tried it in my current beater (03 Sonata) but I suspect it won't be as comfortable because it's quite a bit smaller and has bucket seats instead of big bench seats.
P.S. remember to crack a window.
One could drive about 3 days straight with enough meth.
3 different drivers
Thats fucking extreme. Gotta be so much muscle involved at that point.
Drove from Abilene Tx to Orlando in 19hrs 45min straight. Only stopped for fuel and food. The only thing that kept me from falling asleep was talking to my Dad, learned a lot from my old man during that ride.
Pilots say boring as fuck. They have autopilot but pissing is a hassle. (Sponges in ziploc bags AKA piddle packs). Some wear adult diapers inside their exposure suits. The Life Support folks get to wash the gear after undressing aircrew. Nasty according to them.
One F-16 was lost because pilot draped seat belt around sidestick then raised his seat for better piss flow. That jammed the belt and he had to eject. He was man enough to report it which probably saved other jets.
Not unless you have eyes in the roof of your mouth.
That's amazingly brutal.
Cannonball run: Australian edition?
Watch Dust to Glory, he's a pretty major part of the story and yea, after he did that the guys who Ironman it in trucks and buggies really don't deserve the title.
Kind of surprised that's not a thing already.
I also googled to see if there was any kind of official or unofficial record of Fairbanks to Miami, there's no way you could do that in one haul with less than three or four people. That's just shy of 5,000 miles, even if you match Bolian's average of 98mph that's a solid 48 hours of driving.
The cops would just take the car off you in Australia if you got caught.
Also, very few fuel stops between perth and Adelaide
15 hours
I've done San Francisco to Phoenix many, many times. Solo. Stoned. And on speed. Drunk a couple of times.
The second time I did it I had no AC or stereo in the car but I had a friend to share the driving duties. On the return run I went solo and stoned the entire 15 hours (this was in the era of the 55 mph limit).
I also drove from san Franciso to Great Falls MT. I left at 5:00 PM and did ok until about 2 AM in Jackpot NV, when I had to take a 20 minute nap. I was back ont he road and had to take another nap near Twin Falls. I made it all the way in to GF from there at 2:00 PM< so about 21 hours on the road, no AC, manual transmission Isuzu Trooper with no stereo. It was blazing hot in central NV. Made the whole return run non-stop on the way home.
I recently did the SF/PHX run again and man, the fatigue piles up fast. No crank like the old days. It may have to become a 2-dayer moving forward.
6, just fucking 6. i cant stand to be in a car for any longer in straight driving.
47 hours with breaks and sleep from ontario canada to near seattle
Drove about 900 miles in 14 hours of straight driving, only stopping twice for gas and only one of those times to piss. Was talking to friends on discord the whole time so I didn't pass out on the highway.
Incredibly dangerous and stupid, by the time I reached my destination I was swerving fairly bad and somewhat delirious (had been awake for 6 hours prior to driving).
14 hours of driving in a miata with no exhaust is tiring mentally and physically.
>pic related
Yah you plan that shit out ahead of time so you don't get delirious. You have to recover for lost sleep anyway so rushing long distance really does nothing overall.
Some guy has the record (not sure if it's still standing) on a Yamaha sport touring motorcycle. Solo, obviously.
motorcycle-usa.com
>No exhaust
Nigga the wind shear with a window down in the hardtop after 6 hours alone almost killed me.
14.5 hours plowing when I worked at a local airport. The first couple hours were fun, but after that it was miserable. In that shift we only had two ~15min breaks to get out of the trucks and have some coffee. If we had to piss while we were plowing we radio'd the other guys so we could all stop, then we hopped out and pissed on the runway then got right back to plowing. Driving back and forth across the runway over and over again with no music and no one to talk to make it feel like 30 hours. I guess luckily for me my boss was super strict with the budget and he didn't want to pay me any more OT so he sent me home. I think the other guys were there for something like 21 hours.
Now I want to fly to Miami, buy a cheap ass car and see if I can beat that record without it breaking down.
In the EU the limit for truck driving is 9 hours a day with a 45 min break after any 4.5hr period, a minimum of 11 hours off after the 9 hours and a minimum of 45 hours rest after 6 days of work, you need beter unions over there.
Incorrect I am an owner operator and I would prefer to drive 16 hours day legally and sleep for 8. Or split the times, whatever.
I own my truck and trailer and would love to see HOS abolished completely
we have a winner of idiot of the day.
IDK, ask canonballers and truckers
He already won idiot of the millennium.
77.2 mpg isn't bad. How they manage that?
This sounds horrible. Thank you
Drove 1200 km in 15 hours something, stopped every 4 hours because ass gets sore, knees start to hurt driving at a cruise speed of 110 km|h nighttime is the worst because people tend to not be very careful, that's my experience atleast, i did it without coffee or any other substance, it honestly requires focus and will, and things can go wrong very quickly , i was in the overtake lane trying to pass a truck, halfway through the overtake he slowly starts steering into me , left side is the guardrail right side is a massive 40ton behemoth coming at me,immediately start honking while flooring it, luckily he takes notice and stops.
I started yelling at the guy when i realized he was coming towards me, insane experience, ever since then i always use flash the highbeams when overtaking to catch their attention, both car and trucks.
I like driving and i loved testing how far i could go, my limit is 16 hours with a good night sleep before the trip.
Make sure to bring some stand up comedian you like so you have some company, and don't fall asleep. When things get quiet it gets lonely.
y not idle it?
Ya shutting down an hour away from home after being out for a week is great.
Dont talk about something you don’t know about. My body knows when it’s tired. Not a one size fits all rule designed to babysit the lowest common denominator
I’m top 5% in nation for 5 axle truck income
Longest distance I have ever driven without stoping was 350 km in 2 hours.
Longest time I have ever continuously driven was when I hypermiled from Aachen to Verdun, that was about 5 hours and I did drive back the same day.
I also did 200-300 km tours with a 50ccm, but I usualy stoped at some point.
Kudos to the engineers that designed that engine, it survives 9000 rpm for hours.
that's hot
>youll never cream a 16yr dressed in full animu for 4 days straight no breaks
drove nearly 1000km in a 1991 Subaru Sambar straight in -25c, mostly highway. you dont know hell until youre driving a 50hp kei truck in the dead of winter at night with 4 AM radio channels
when i was a mechanic one of the other guys in the shop drove from here in northern Canada to El Salvador with 1 other guy, straight trip with only fuel stops with each driver switching off. drove a late 80s Nissan KingCab 4x4, his buddy borrowed the truck when they got to El Savador and it got stolen that night lol
>ejecting while taking a piss
fucking hell, can you imagine how much that must've sucked
The question is how long you can stay functionally in control I guess.
2008 in the sand box (sandnigger land) we got 14 calls for vehicular recoveries, so I stayed out and recovering trucks for a total of 26 hours. We started the morning at 0600 and ended at 0800. We were too busy to have me stop. I started on uppers by hour 14. I luckily was given the next day off to sleep
