Hey, in case the thread dies again, /indie/ said they're ok with us spamming the thread over there. Ded at 78 posts isn't very good.
Also, reminder to unload your TT mags & Fence them separately

It might be an unpopular opinion, but do you guys think that damage shouldn't be as lethal in this game? I'm new, so take it as it is, but I would very much prefer if I wasn't losing limbs after single firefight. Is situation going to get better as you level up?
Eli Wright
It's all about using positioning & sound management to come up on people unawares. Getting into a firefight with someone is best avoided, and often it's better to retreat & find another unexpected angle than to stay & duke it out.
So personally I'm good with the lethal damage as-is. If you've f'd up enough to have taken fire & lost a limb, it's time to start considering the exit.
Wyatt Rivera
if you dont have armour, and someone shoots you in the arm a few times, you cant use your arm any more, its more realistic and itll stay that way
just bring a splint and some painkillers along with a medkit
dont try to be rambo
Adam Nelson
Yeah I get that, but splints and medkits won't help you if you lost a limb already. I literally lose a limb after every single firefight, and it's just pistols, not rifles.
Camden Murphy
try painkillers
Carson Green
Painkillers won't save you from insta kill lost limbs provide.
Daniel Wright
The EFT section at Gamescom is on in 10 minutes on Twitch :^)
Christopher Phillips
Is it gonna be in Russian tho
Ethan Robinson
level up and you wont instadie from lost limbs
Camden Davis
just git gud kid lol

Confirmed blindfire Confirmed death match arena map Confirmed new communication wheel where you can whip out your middle finger to people and wave and shit Confirmed quests are do basic generic things during raids to get more loot at the end like some roubles and trader rep

>scav = playerbase >player = tarkov dev
Noah Morgan
15 mins wasnt enough to talk about, that and it seems like English wasnt a good choice to present with. If they just brought a translator it mightve been better.
William Gonzalez
im so sad they didnt show the fucking hideout the big new extra option in the main menu but instead they go out to shoreline and kill a few scavs with absolute lategame gear i guess this was more to show off the game to people who might not know about it to get more sales or something idk i mean it sounded a bit clunky but im sure he got out all he meant to say
the interviewer had awful questions though
Grayson Stewart
>open beta
what does this even mean Is this game going f2p ree

Christian Jackson
>Is this game going f2p ree wew poorfag
Benjamin Rodriguez
The Gamescom Twitch stream was a bit of a let down as far as content goes. But here's a quote from EFT dev, Kleanuppguy after the showcase:
"Please remember that showcase was not entirely intended to showcase all the new features to the community we already have. That was to show the game to people whom have never seen it before in a short amount of time. EFT has so much detail it is hard to explain everything in 5 min especially with a language barrier involved to a small degree."
He also says there /might/ be a dev stream later on that goes much further into depth focusing on new content like the missions, hideouts, and arena mode.
Jaxon Kelly
>poorfag Hes reeeing because we don't want f2p normies invading our game
Aaron Gomez
Or is he reeing because he's one of those and doesn't want to pay?
Kayden Lewis
im that guy and its because I don't want f2p

Are there plans to have some sort of in game VOIP? Maybe add in radios as well so everyone on the same frequency can speak to each other? Teams are going to be talking to each other through third party programs anyway, so why not let randoms talk? Would be cool if lets say you're USEC and two Bears nearby are talking you would hear random Russian voice clips playing as they're talking. Or something like that.
Hudson Brooks
Most likely, no VOIP. I think this is a good thing, as VOIP would break immersion, especially with mic spammers and squeakers. However, they just showed off the radial emote menu at Gamescom, and that will include several voice commands and hand signals, so you can communicate with randoms that way
Jordan Turner
>no VOIP >Good thing wew lad
I knew some people were idiots but that's just plain retarded
Benjamin Lee
The mic spammers, squeakers, and people running around yelling "friendly" would break the immersion for a lot of people.
Why would you ever need VOIP if you have the callouts and hand signals?
Easton Evans
>players mic spam, squeak, etc >instantly know their position and wipe the floor with them Why wouldn't you want VOIP?
Joseph Young
Trading, ammo sharing, telling someone you're friendly, etc.
Mic spammers? Add in a mute feature. Or just shoot the fucker in the face a few times.
Adam Gray
It would not work in this game. Someone could just blast linkin park and other meme music.
Asher Campbell
>tell someone that you're friendly >they shoot you anyway
Carter Ross
Okay, you make a valid point. I'm half asleep so the idea of just muting VoIP if you don't want to hear it just slipped my mind. I just hope if they do add it, they do it right. Like Rust's VoIP system that is affected by environment, echoes, and where whispering actually works.
Oliver Gray
i can see them adding voip for squad communication ingame just so u can squad up with people from the list as well and not just friends but id really rather they add nothing more than that i enjoy just the yelling they have in the game now, its much more immersive
Owen Baker
It would also be cool if Scavs responded to VoIP. Like if you talk loud enough, they'll hear you and come looking for you
Adam Reyes
>valid point
you wouldnt be able to mute anyone in a game like this. The sound would be directional and and take distance into account. It would be open air audio but it would not be global like call of duty where you can mute. At best it would be with an equipment that lets you talk to your friend specifically over distance but that would be dumb since out of game voice chat exists so nobody would ever buy it if they could.
its just too abusable other wise and you're going to have to deal with it nerds. Just use discord with your friends and thats it.
Jayden Collins
Man, I was getting so fucking frustrated last night. Went from wiping four man teams the day before to dying to total plebshitters and losing fully kitted AK74s and helmets. But my last game of the day, I decided I'd fuck around on woods with a mostly unmodded (had a PSO on it), loud AK. Ended up killing 4 players and walking out with a decked AK, two M4s, and a helmet. I might have to do more loud AK runs 'cause luring people to your location as you get your first kill and then moving immediately to a position that overlooks where you fired from as well as the unlooted body of your first kill is hype as shit. Just kept to the idea of shoot, move, and relocate until nobody else was showing up.
Tyler Powell
what happens if you wait out the timer for the raid?
Carson Richardson
you die irl
Gavin Jones
>rewards you with Fort armor I really hope this doesn't mean they're making Fort common through the quest system.
Angel Allen
If they do make it more common, it's gonna get seriously nerfed
Jose Gomez
no but really
Elijah Ward
I mean, it's gonna get removed eventually anyway when they do the armor rework, which'll combine armor with chest rigs as we'll be adding plates and shit to the rigs themselves, but in the mean time, yeah I hope it gets nerfed if they bring it back to being common.
Carson Foster
>inb4 quests run on a cooldown timer like Scav runs
Landon Powell
It will give you a warning at around the ten minute mark, and if you're still in the raid when the timer goes out, you go "MIA" and lose all your shit. So you basically die.
Josiah Brooks
oh i have seen the MIA thing on the profile screen so thats how u get that well thats weird, i was hoping it gave you some reward for sticking it out that long
Jason Perry
>wanting to get fort armor and 200k every single run
lets ruin the economy
Ayden James
well you actually have to finish the quest which i assume will be non-trivial at the least
Pretty sure you get three quests and they reset every 24 hours, the same way Contract Wars did it. So if you complete one quest for Prapor, he'll give you a new one the next day, but if you don't complete any, you'll still have those same quests the next day. Just throwing out an educated guess though.
Quests look pretty neat. I'm hoping they sneak some weapons into the update too despite not having mentioned anything at Gamescom.
Tyler Smith
Team is lazy/slow as fuck, I doubt it.
Samuel Garcia
Can't wait for the quest system *rubs hands*
Wyatt Collins
Hopefully it comes with that feature to contract other players to get you shit.
Luke Howard
They've got a few more weapons finished now, so there probably will be a few. Fingers crossed for a revolver
Cameron White
They've had the Rhino and Vityaz done for months, but haven't released them
Jace Anderson
I don't think it's about laziness. They have to release the game next year, so they're probably shifted priorities.
David Kelly
Maybe they're trying to get the desynch fixed first.
Daniel Evans
Artists still have work to do when programmers are working on fixing game issues. Implementing weapons is a matter of minutes once a weapon base is set. There is no excuse for it being so long since a new weapon has been introduced.
Ryder Barnes
considering the millions of dollars worth of pre-orders, they have no excuse to be such a fucking amateur company with the output of one and a half programmers.
Essentially every single system in their game is made by complete amateurs, worse than community college desigenrs and programmers. Like it's years since they started and the friends list doesn't even show online/offline... basic features that a game in 1995 would have within one week of development.
Oh, and the inventory they got wrong 20 years later, where if you're holding a 3x2 and you drag it onto another 3x2, it won't swap the positions of the two. You have to manually play Towers of Hanoii with your inventory because tarkov hired the worst programmer in all of russia and no help.
Christian Foster
>mfw all these qualities that make it a legit russian game
its perfect
its all actually just features not bugs :)
Gabriel Brooks
My understanding was that they were using the start of beta as a stress test and to try and optimize server performance/add new servers before releasing content (which there apparently is a decent amount of that's been completed that they're holding back). Not sure how valid any of this is since I'm taking from memory what I've heard a dev (who doesn't actually work on the game but is more of a go between for BSG and weapon/gear companies) say on stream.
Kevin Jenkins
You have to put it in loot tables, make sure the attachments work, what if the AI gets it, put them in the trader files and so on. It certainly isn't "a matter of minutes". Besides, new weapons won't do anybody good if the game isn't playable. Even if they made good money from the preorders that doesn't magically make their programmers any better and I doubt they can or will hire someone more competent out of thin air. I can imagine game programmers are a rarity in Russia. There is a bunch of stuff shown in earlier trailers that isn't in the current beta so let's hope they put all those promised features in quickly. I don't want another DayZ.
Charles Howard
>worse than community college desigenrs and programmers. lmao id like to see community college people make anything of this scope you're exaggerating greatly you fucking dolt
Jaxson Ross
I went to community college and I'm making my own game.
That's an early video of the engine I made. I can't be annoyed to make a new one, since I'm not currently at my computer.
William Watson
>of this scope Of what scope. There's just 4 maps, terrible AI, 5 traders, and not even many weapons. I mean I play it and enjoy it to an extent but what are you saying.
Jordan Baker
you got a cube to render and rotate with opengl and you think you know exactly what's going on under the hood in tarkov? absolutely laughable try thinking about how big the systems dictating everything that happens in the game are if you dont know how to program it might be more difficult to imagine
Cameron Rivera
I know perfectly well what's going on under the hood of Tarkov. They use Unity multiplayer, which hosts a C++ server using Boost implementing UDP with several custom layers ontop, allowing it to be customized from simple unreliable packet sending to full-fledged TCP. All trader and inventory interactions are TCP, all 'immediate' actions are more UDP-like with no ACKs being sent around to avoid double-latency delay. I could go on and on, but I'll spare you the details. It just werks, but I dislike how it werks, so I'm making my own thing.
William Edwards
>not even many weapons But the ones that are in can track several different attachments with different functions that (in the case of scopes) have to be properly zeroed no matter where they are put on the gun; can track different magazines with individual bullets of various calibers, velocities etc. in them and so on and so on...and all of that online with several players at once. Doesn't sound so small time anymore, does it?
James Rodriguez

>We saw some new items in the player stash that we had not seen in game yet. I swear if it's not any new weapons I'm going to fucking buy a Mak from Prapor and fucking boil it.
Landon Roberts
they already confirmed the pp19 smg looking thing. It was in the inventory during gamescon you just had to look at it.
>Wipe imminent >PMCs in each raid are still 50% hatchlings The hatchet run meme needs to end
Michael Myers
>not wanting free exp Its either this or going full makarov meme

I'm level 40. The fuck do I care about exp? I want to get some good PVP so I can improve at the game and get free gear off the cold dead bodies of dirty USECs.
