Looks like a brz fucked an Audi TT and then had a baby with downs.

I like their design, their sumptuous interior in high-end, their outfit of everything.
My favorite is the Citroën SM V6 engine Maseratti, a sports GT as rare as beautiful.

...

...

Renault Alpine A310....

the new Mégane RS 2018 ...
280 hp, 4-cylinder turbo 1.8 liter, 380 Nm of torque, 6-speed manual gearbox, sport chassis ...

...

For real. I plan to restore an SM myself.

Good luck dude.
SM carburetor or injection?

Given that I tend towards colder climates I'd imagine I want DI.

The problem is, I'm not rich, so whatever I get is gonna be mega fucked up.

get a BX 16v instead

what country do you live in?

The SM is a car that can quickly be expensive to restore because it has many rare pieces. The hydropneumatic system is a derivative of that of the CX, so it is very reliable. By cons, body parts and engine are very difficult to find parts, and especially very expensive.

Good old Burgerland. They exist here, but a lot of them are in nasty shape since Citroën jumped ship and left them without maintenance.

No dice. SM or bust. It won't be my main car, I just want one because I think its drop dead gorgeous and worth the journey.

You're one brave soul.

These things are so complex that back in the day non-specialists wouldn't even touch it.

BX and XM are pretty good desu. SM is a beaut but they're rare moneypits.
DS would be a good alternative

BX 16 valves in good original condition are starting to be rare ... There are very few left in circulation in France.

Threadly reminder by buying PSA cars you're sponsoring state-mandated cuckery and rapefugee intake.

In france, until 2 years ago, you couldn't own bikes with more than 100 hp top fucking kek.
In france, men cannot order a paternity test because the law sees peace in the family as more important than the father knowing whether the kids are his or not. Trying to get a test done, even via a laboratory in another country, will lead to a 10 year jail sentence.

Renault has some okay stuff although their current electronics are somewhat sensitive, don't go changing speakers in the ipad gen megane

Here's a quirky little car.
>compact family car
>hydropneumatics
>double dorito spinner engine

If you understand French, look at this video... It is the automotive journalist Renaud Roubaudi who interviews a specialist in the maintenance of SM ... he gives good advice

not the best, but I really like the clio v6 for being pure madness.

Until this thread I had begun to feel Veeky Forums was truly lost. Glad to see there's still people who care.

Ideally, I'd attempt to create parts I can't find myself. I understand such a thing is easier said than done, though, and I appreciate the tip. Do you know where I would look for such parts?

Haha, well by the time I'm done (as if a project car is ever done, though) I'd probably be a specialist myself, so maybe that's not so bad! At least I won't have to worry about Dustin at Jiffy Lube fucking something up. Since it's never going there.

You're absolutely fucking based my dude. I'm kicking myself for taking Chinese in high school over French now, but I know some guys. Thanks a bunch!

>Can you buy some in your country?
They were made in my country.

> (You)
>Ideally, I'd attempt to create parts I can't find myself. I understand such a thing is easier said than done, though, and I appreciate the tip. Do you know where I would look for such parts?

I am especially passionate about 2cv Citroën, but I love the SM because it represents what the brand has done better.
To look for parts of SM, I advise you to ask fans of the SM club de France. They have the knowledge, the contacts, and they know where to find the rare pieces.

The cheapest SM you can buy in France: 5500€... but for a good car it's 25000€

>Let's talk about nothing.

>1.8 liter
KEK

We don't have any of them frenchies but we got nissan and gm which is close enough

fuck renault for not supplying parts to Manic.

France always made due with little and dominated rally nonetheless

>What do you think about French cars?
I´m scarred for life. Years ago I had a Citroen BX 19 GTI 16v. Nice when it worked. The problem was that it didn´t work that often. Overall, French companies make decent small cars, but I´m still kinda hesitant about them.
Can you buy some in your country?
Finland, yeah, they are here.
Which one do you think is the best?
Renault and older Peugeots

what do French cars smell like, Veeky Forums?

kebab and african minge

I'm in Canada and not sure if I've ever seen one here. How are they in reliability?

Shit like the Italians?
Shit like the British?
Shit like the Germans?

Varies wildly from car to car and from engine to engine.

Ah a very car enthusiast reply to my question.

I guess I should have stated perceived reliability

it's unique - Shit like the French

Shit electronics, okay everything else.

...

I wish that Renault weren't cowards and gave the rear engined Twingo a big engine and made it fast. I give them credit for making an RR layout Twingi in the first place though.

fuck I love this car

My dream car

You have to know that the French government taxes very strongly the powerful cars, that we have automatic radars on all our roads which sanction all excess of speed, and that the fuel is very expensive.

The car manufacturers have adapted and specialized in the optimization of small engines. The megan 4 is only 1.8 liters, but still develops 280hp. Which is already a lot in a light and agile car. Let's not forget that the European roads are winding, poorly maintained and rather narrow ... so totally unsuited to the overpowering American cars but limited grip and size too big.

205 GTI 1.6, 115 hp and 890 Kg...the best sport car I've ever drive... Now, they are rather expensive

...

how unreliable is TU3 S engine ?
it it any better than TU1/K or TU24-M4A

The best TU engine is the TU5J4 in the Saxo VTS or 106 S16, but the 205 is still the mother of all the French GTI, Its legend, its look and its unattended driving makes it unmistakable.

My only experience with French sports cars is Misato's Renault from Eva. I don't think I've ever seen a real life French car, sport or otherwise, where I live in the US.

The new Peugeot 508...
youtube.com/watch?v=GpUzvTzMCL4

doesn't look like a honder at all, francois

In France, it is the American cars that make us dream, but when we have the opportunity to test it is the disappointment ... These cars are not at all adapted to our roads or our driving habits.

it's still looks better than the current 508

>205
lots of 1.6 CTI and 1.8 GTI show up around atm
only once a 106 rally (does less weight make better ?)
between 2000 and 6000 usd
but hard to find parts for

More lightness? OK ... AX Sport, same engine as the 106 rally, but lighter and even smaller.
youtube.com/watch?v=Z4H9IViMb0M

driving habits?

1.3 liter engine prepared by Danielson, 95 HP, 2 double carburetor, small 13 inch wheels, 3.5m long and only 715 kg

>driving habits?
In France we do not like automatic gearboxes, we prefer cars agile and light with a lot of grip in curve. It is also necessary that the car is not too wide because of thin roads, and because of taxes and fuel prices we avoid too big engines

would have to import that
only 11 TRE and 14 GT are about locally
and very few

The GTI is more powerful, but more heavy... It's still a good car with a brillant 1.4i engine 100hp.

4900€ for the cheapest AX GTI
leboncoin.fr/voitures/1388359608.htm?ca=12_s

the prices grows up everyday...

The AX GT is cheap with a 85hp engine, but still amaising to drive.

1200€ for a nice grey Mk1
leboncoin.fr/voitures/1379514055.htm?ca=12_s

>The AX GT is cheap with a 85hp engine,
I think we got the UK version
RHD 720 kg and 95 HP
but they don't really come up for sale
and mostly ones that do are five door (is three door better)

>1200€ for a nice grey Mk1
neat I have never seen one with the badge centred

>tfw kind of like the older steering wheel

>centered badge
holy fuck

centred badge is for the mk2 Ax in 1992, but some 1991 have it.

There was 3 type of sport AX:

AX Sport (1987-1990) 1.3 95hp, two double carburator, 715kg.

AX GT (1987-1991) 1.4 with one double carburator, 85hp, 720kg (3 or 5 doors)
AX GT (1992-1995) 1.4 injection monopoint, 75hp, 760kg (3 or 5 doors), catalyser.

AX GTI (1991-1992) 1.4 injection multipoint, 100hp, 780kg.
AX GTI (1993-1995) 1.4 injection multipoint, 95hp, 785kg, catalyser.

so I find the 1992 face lift has the badge centred
and weighs a bit more

it have a nex dashboard, new bumpers, white turn signals in the front, ans a new trunk design

thanks
Ill make sure to check the importation date and badge type

That's not the current 508, but it too is better than the current 508

my parents bought a AX Thalassa in 1991, we still have this car with 376000kms, it's a good little car, very reliable but poorly protected against rust.
Beware of the rear axle which is the weak point of the Peugeot / Citroën of that time, the rolling axles and the ball bearings wear out quickly.

I know, I upload the worst picture, but I realise it too late... however, Peugeot did a good job with the new one, I remember a time were the 505 was compared with the BMW 3 series...

youtube.com/watch?v=_g2cEpqzDjI

When I was a kid in the early 1970s my grandmother had a Peugeot 504 in Miami. It was a coupe, but with a great sporty feel. We loved that car.

I dream of having one of the cabriolets!

504 coupé in the USA? Nice.

tbf looks more like a worthless muh comfymobile muh asthetics muh wah than a sportscar.

It propably drives like all shit and you can't push it since once you dent it you have to get a second morgage to even google the paint code.

I get the obsession but seems like a worthless car.

I'd much rather restore a110 because thats an actual sports car

it's a luxury GT, not a sports car

I dream of A310 but I have no idea what that car is really like

>GT
>in sports car thread
GT must be able to do sports and be comfy for a long ride.

that SM is just overcomplicated comfybarge with a big engine sending power to the worst wheels

The SM is a super Citroën DS, a GT for motorway with power and comfort... for a pure French sportcar looks after Renault, Alpine or Venturi.

205 Turbo 16... the most radical Peugeot ever.

Sad, even with the GETs on your side you're still wrong.

>Now, they are rather expensive
106 GTi and Saxo VTS are very similar and don't suffer from 205 meme tax yet.

Anyone looking for a hilarious little funbox, go drive one and you'll probably want to buy it right away.

I know that, my first sport car was the Saxo 1.4i. So much fun with that little Sax'...
The 205 GTI is still a legend, and the red carpet inside is awesome. A friend of mine have the 115hp and let me drive it sometimes. A true Peugeot and a pleasure to pilot.

like taking corners, French cars are actually good at it.

hello fellow Finland friend, plis gib bx16v i only have 8v.

>tfw they never produced the 405 coupe

405 coupe pikes peak was a prototype, but the 405 T16 is a real production car:
