The Rathalos is the strongest thign we've seen in the demo, and its completely unaffected by the environment. It doesnt fall into ground traps or trees, it cant be beaten in a monster clash. I am getting the itch to play MH. I don't know if I should play 4U,Gen or XX. I played all of them already, but I don't which one should I play again in preparation for MHW. Any advice?

chill out my man we don't even have a console release date. the game is still on MT Frameworks which is famously easy to port on, so I wouldn't expect a long delay. It's most likely one of those "we're afraid of piracy" delays, not a "we're not even going to start porting the game until it's out on console" delays.

It could be as little as a week or two like with MGSV/Dark Souls 2, or it could be longer. If I had to guess I'd estimate about a month after console release. Speculation is pointless so early on though.

Can someone get me up to speed on MHXX and MHW? Should I bother getting excited for MHW or does MHXX just have so much more content that who even gives a shit about MHW? IS MHXX getting an English release, or at least a language selection?

MHW easily looks like the best most streamlined Monster Hunter to date, maybe if you're a really huge elitist who can't adapt to change should you ignore MHW.

MHXX is the portable line of monster hunter games, much more loyal to the classic monster hunter formula of "hit it until it dies" and has the most possible content available to a single monhun game currently.

MHW is a memetastic westernized home console and PC version of monhun with less focus on hitting things until they die and more about hiding in bushes, leading monsters on a leash, using slingshots, watching monsters beat each other, dropping rocks on monsters' heads, etc... it's yet to be released and will be a massive flop in terms of content quantity compared to the nintendo portable series.

MHXX is rough and has a lot of filler and awful early game to trudge through but it gets good once you hit G rank.
MHW has too many unknown factors to say for sure so far. We don't know anything yet about how challenging the game will be, how much content it will have, how weapon balance and gear variety will turn out, etc.
Just play MHXX and check out MHW a week after release or so, and see how it turned out.

XX is X/Gen with G Rank and some more content, in otherwords it's more of the same. It's Jap only for now, but Nintendo just added paypal international payments to the eshop, so it's easy as fuck to buy the Switch version if you want it. If you want to do save transfer from your English copy then you need homebrew on your 3DS to change it to an X save file.
World is designed for the western audience and is the 5th main title in the series, whether you like it or not. It's more open world and "dynamic" (has scripted cinematic sequences).

My only reservation with XX is that I'd want to get it on the Switch, but I'd really like to play it in English. I've done the whole "just play the japanese version" thin before on PSP with P3rd, and while I could play it, it was pretty fuckin annoying.

I didn't have a problem with Hunter Arts. I originally thought I was going to hate them, but they wound up being pretty irrelevant.

In Phial Awakening mode, every single hit in Sword Mode will cause a Phial Burst on the monster, dealing additional damage.
For example, in Arekkz' footage, he did a heavenward flurry on Jagras' head for 22+36, and each hit had another explosion added on for 10 more damage. This damage is affected by hitzones, so I'd assume it also scales off your raw.
