The people you play this with make it fun.
The game by itself just offers you a lot of shit to grind at any given time so you don't run out of things to do for a while.
If you have good friends, go for it. If you think you can make friends with the local autists, go for it. If you know japanese and want to hang out with actual nips, go for it.

Stay away. GBF has a sparking system for a reason. The rates are so bad they had to introduce it to keep players happy.
